thinking of booking for next dec what week??

we were thinking of arriving either the 1st or 2nd weekend of december next year. I know that mouse fest is usually the 2nd weekend, do you think they generate a larger amount of people?? If so, would the first weekend be better. I really don't want to go with too many crowds since we are going to bring my mom and her sister.

We have been there at Christmas time and it does get very crowded. So now we go around the 10th and it's not very busy at all. It really picks up around the 21st so we leave before then. In fact we leave in 9 days .... for our third trip in December.

The Pop Warner meets the first full week of December (probably Dec 6-12, 2009), but although that may impact your choice of resort (they mostly stay and fill the All-Stars value and spill over to Pop and sometime Port Orleans) they won't impact your park days as they are mostly competing until near the end of the week.

Mousefest is usually the second week (again, probably Dec 6-12, 2009) and not even a full week as part of Mousefest is a 3-day cruise.

I guess I would plan on going the first week since the crowds will be a little lower than the second week.

I have found the first week of Dec. is harder to book at DVC than the second week. Of course if you are booking the larger resorts it won't matter. But if, for instance, you were trying for a standard view at BWV, the competition for the first week will be pretty stiff, even at 11 months. Maybe others have had a different experience??

POP Warner is usually the second Sunday after Thanksgiving. They have their final eliminations or whatever they are called the weekend after Thanksgiving and then the following Sunday is when they arrive in WDW for their Super Bowl. So I would guess they will be there 12/6-12/12

As another posted indicated, these groups do not impact the parks very much. Mousefest has a few mega meets that might impact a ride or two but not the entire park.
POP Warner has a greater impact on the resorts that they stay in, which are the Allstar Sports and Allstar Music, the POR and POFQ.
They have a private event in DHS the Wednesday night that they are there, the park closes earlier for their event. So just plan accordingly if you go at that time.

We are in the early planning stages of our first trip to Disney for Christmas 2009! We will be there when everyone else is (around 20th).. so we are planning on not riding too many rides, but mostly just sight seeing. We are very excited
