Halloween is one of my favorite holidays, and I've always wanted to go to DLR to see it decorated in all its Halloween glory! My birthday is in late August, but I figured I'd postpone my planned birthday trip for a few weeks next year so I can go during Halloween time. This year Halloween started at DLR on September 9th, but I can't recall if that is normal from previous years. Is it usually the Friday after Labor Day, or was it early this year compared to previous years? TIA!!

Since 2013, HalloweenTime has started on Friday after Labor Day. The guessing is that with the popularity of HalloweenTime, it seems likely that they'll continue to start as early in the month as possible. I would guess that next year, HalloweenTime will start somewhere between the Friday after Labor Day (9/8/17) and the following Friday (9/15/17). The first Mickey's Halloween Party has typically been at the end of September, but they won't announce those dates until sometime in the summer (most likely).

Disney does things a certain way, until they don't. If you want to guarantee that you get the most Halloween offerings, plan your trip for October.

True, and sometimes it's best not to go right when something starts at DLR (especially if it's new/something they've not done before). Give them a few days/weeks to work out any bugs/kinks and then go!

Like you, Halloween is my favorite holiday. And Halloween at DL is fantastic. I don't recall the start of the Halloween season there -- I go every Sunday, so it doesn't make a lot of difference to me. However, they do a great job of it. Something to consider is the Halloween party they do on select nights during the season. It's an extra cost but it's great, by all accounts (I've never been myself). Have a great time! And don't forget to book dinner early if you plan on eating at any of the better places (Blue Bayou, for example).

Be warned that October seems to have turned pretty crazy. Do research on school breaks. We went October 10-14th this year and apparently a ton of schools now do a fall break and the park was said to be "10s" during our WEEKDAY visits. This was the second year we went for Mickey's Halloween Party and while it was a ton of fun, I'm not sure I'll do Halloween again. The crowds were comparable to that of Christmas break and/or Spring Break but the CMs weren't prepared and rides weren't going at full capacity and hours were shorter. I think I'd rather do Christmas break and get Magic Morning every day and have all the entertainment!
