We are suppose to be going to Disney the week of Thanksgiving and camping at Fort Wilderness. This will be our first trip.

Now I've had a wild hair and thinking about moving our trip up to the 2nd week of October. I'm pretty sure that I won't be able to get the campground for that week. I checked online already. But I haven't called yet. So now we are thinking about switching to staying in a hotel. If we stayed in a value resort instead of camping it will more than double the cost for us. And money is a factor.

My 5 year old is out of school 3 days that week for Fall Break. I'm just worried about the crowds during Thanksgiving week.

How will the crowds be from Oct. 6th - 11th? Is it worth it for me to change our trip? Which value resort is better? It seems that all of them have openings.

Would you camp or stay in the hotel?

What are you suggestions? Plus I have 2 character meal reservations - who knows if I could switch them. ?????

HELP!!!!!

have you checked www.mousesavers.com for a code for the hotel of you choice? have you considered offsite? there are some relatively cheap hotels offsite that offer free breakfast everymorning.

as far as i have heard thanksgiving weekend is very busy. and october is slow. you should call and see if disney has any campsites available during the time frame you want. also remember to try to play with your dates. that sometimes helps with availability.

do you have anything that might give you a discount? AAA, disney club membership, annual pass. anything like that.

Hi! I'm going to be at FW the week of Thanksgiving! This will be our first time to go in November, but I think Fort Wilderness is wonderful any time of year! We've stayed in hotels before, but not since we discovered FW! So my vote would be to stay there anytime! I bet you can get a reservation for October there--that is supposed to be a slower time.
