For a May solo trip, which would you choose? But first a little background: As an AP holder I go to WDW several times a year and normally stay in a moderate, so have stayed in all four moderates within the last couple of years. However, for some reason I tend to keep going back to CSR and POFQ the most (was at CSR this past Sept and Nov/Dec and at POFQ last May and again just last month--early Feb). I currently have bounceback deals booked for May at CSR, Sept at POFQ, and Oct/Nov at POFQ. I'm thinking about changing my May trip, but can't decide where. I've stayed at the Values before, but it's been several years, so thought I might like to try one just for a change. Using my AP discount the following is available:

CSR Standard: $1051 (exact same as my current bounceback)
CBR Standard: $1024 or CBR Preferred $1162
PORS Royal Guest Garden view: $1133
Pop Standard: $754.
AS Music Preferred: $853.
AS Sports Preferred: $853.

The price differences are not that much and wouldn't really figure into the equation, but compared to my current deal for a Standard at CSR the differences would be:

CBR Standard: $27 cheaper CBR Preferred: $111 higher
PORS Royal Guest Garden view: $82 higher
Pop Standard: $297 cheaper
AS Music Preferred: $198 cheaper
AS Sports Preferred: $198 cheaper

If money is not the primary issue, I would stay at a moderate as a solo traveler. (Note that I've not yet traveled solo to WDW.) I'm a DVC member and stay at the deluxe resorts a lot, but I have also stayed at moderates and values. On my most recent trip in December I stayed at ASMusic and had a great experience. The primary reason I'd recommend a moderate for a solo trip is the added benefit of the lounges. They provide a nice atmosphere to sit and have a drink or small bite that values don't offer. Beyond that, the pools are nice at all the resorts.

One more note would be that Port Orleans would have the ferry option to get to Downtown Disney. Never really a quick option, but if time isn't an issue, it's an added incentive.

I can't help you with PO vs. CBR or CSR, cuz I've only stayed at PO (which I did like).

Hope this adds some info for your thought process. I'm sure you'll have a great time no matter what you decide.

I've never done a solo trip (not yet, anyway), but if I did, I'd probably choose a deluxe;) Since that isn't one of your options, I'd choose either the Royal Princess room or ASMu-in that order. The quiet boat ride to DTD is such a plus! Although I liked POP, ASMu seemed a bit quieter. I guess it just depends on what kind of atmosphere you are looking for. If a relaxing, slow time...go with PO:thumbsup2

I voted for POR since I'm a huge fan of PO resorts. Love the boat ride to DTD and the relative quiet at these resorts. My favorite is FQ, but looks like you've got that lined up quite a bit. I envy you the number of trips you are able to make to Disney each year. Have a wonderful time!

I marked CBR prefered - Close to food and pool + that awesome south seas feel. It looks as though you have not been there and how about the change of pace. My second would be my favorite resort POR but with the added RGR a chance for you the princes. This is one though that may be best enjoyed with a good friend!

What ever you do, ENJOY!!!!

Hi, haven't talked to you in quite some time.

I would say wait until I get back from our Florida trip in April when we are staying at the All-Star Music for one night and I'll let you now how it is. But, since we are only staying one night to sleep on our travels to Tampa and then Miami, I'm sure we won't get much of a feel for it.

I can tell you the only reason we are staying there is because it was $70 cheaper than staying at our beloved CSR and we will be in the room for seven hours at most.

I would, out of your selections, go with POR. I know that CBR is your least favorite moderate (and you know it is the one I truly don't want to stay at) and POR does have the boat to DTD which we found very convenient when we stayed at OKW...a great added feature in our book.

What type of transportation will you be using during your stay?

Disney buses! I have no desire to drive on vacation.:rotfl:

Hi Kathy! I don't think I could handle having only one night at WDW. Have fun in Tampa and Miami. While it's true CBR is my least favorite moderate, I'm considering it just because I haven't been there in awhile. However, I haven't been to PORS in awhile either and have never stayed in the Mansions section (just the Bayous). I would rather have a preferred room there, but there are none available under the AP discount, just the Royal Guest rooms. You know I'm not going to pay rack rate.:rotfl: While I go several times a year, the only way I can afford my trips is with good discounts.:rotfl: I still love CSR and POFQ, I'm just looking at a change.

I voted CSR standard, because that's where/when my friend and I will be there! :)
I think I would miss the CSR if I went to Disney and didn't stay there at least part of
my stay. But it would be fun to check out the PO Royal Guest rooms.
I did do a 2-day stay solo at a Value resort last fall and I enjoyed staying there , but I think I would really prefer a moderate for a longer trip, even if it's just me.

i vote for PORS (Dixie Landings) royal room just because its something new and diff................
