Thinking about cmping over Xmas...

I would love to camp at Fort Wilderness. I would love to experience Disney during the holidays. I am just worried if it is actually doable. We have a pop up and have done late fall camping here in Indiana. It does have a furnance and we used a little electric heater as well. That combined with Solar Gizmos kept it in the 70s inside when the temps dipped in the 30s overnight. How cold does it get in Dec. in FL? Would camping in a pop up be doable?

I think you would be fine. I know a few weeks ago it got down into thw 30s overnight but that is not the norm. I think the hardest part would be booking a resevation for that time of year.

You should be fine. Be ready for cold and warm weather. We camped at the fort 20+ years for xmas & it was different every time. Don't wait to make your reservation.

I think you would be fine, however the weather in Florida is just as crazy as it is everywhere else. You just never know. Be prepared for anything.
Your biggest challenge, in my opinion will be getting a ressie for Christmas 2012 at this late date.
Not to say it can't be done. Be persistent. Keep checking.

Christmas is a nice time. We did it a few years ago in our pop-up from Alabama.

Here is the Accuweather data for December averages and last year's numbers. Sure there's some variability but be prepared for anything on either side of these numbers.

Once you camp Christmas at the Fort you will be hooked and spend every Christmas there. We have done it and absolutely love it.

I am sure the weather will be fine. The boat rides back in the evening can get a bit brisk but there is nothing like a decorated Fort to make you feel all warm inside.

Good luck and like everyone else said, book your trip now. I made my xmas reservation and all that was left to choose from was full hookup and partial hookups left.
