Things you wish you had been taught at school

I agree with budgeting. My mom taught me but I did not listen to her. They have financial literacy classes now that are helpful.

Unfortunately, there is no home ec or shop class in our local high school. You can apply for a magnet school and do a culinary program, but regular old home ec with sewing and cooking is not an option. My mom also taught me those things but it was really fun as an elective, especially with heavy college prep classes. I remember that we learned to cook an entire Thanksgiving meal in home ec and then I went home and cooked everything for my family from start to finish.

I agree about budgeting. HOWEVER, that would be a difficult subject to teach since there seems to be little agreement anymore on what things are necessities and what things are luxury expenditures.
I think in today's world is a cell phone is a necessity. But is a $1199 cell phone a necessity when you can get one for $30, or some where in between. I know many who would argue the $1199 version is a necessity.

Compound interest and how to get it.
That making and keeping friends is as important as good grades.
That giving- really giving of yourself- improves your life more than receiving.
How to type with more than 6 fingers.
Social skills class.
How to cook classic French dishes.
