Things you can't seem to remember

I am almost 32 years old, have a Master's degree, yet I still cannot remember if it's spelled highschool or high school. You could sit me in a room with the correct spelling all over the walls for a whole year, and I'd come out of there still spelling it wrong, or at best getting it right thanks to a wild guess.

It was never meant to be, and I just accept this. I will *never* remember how to spell highschool. (Or is it high school)

It's high school. Think of it this way...we don't write it elementaryschool or middleschool or gradeschool...and neither do we write it highschool.

But I know what you mean about tripping up on words or phrases. I used to do that with "a lot"....I used to always write it "alot" until I found out that was incorrect.

I'm usually okay with words, but accept and except throw me off. When I'm thinking about it now, I know the difference, but when I need to actually use one of them, I have to look it up and I STILL get it wrong 75% of the time.
