What are some things you can buy outside of DL for cheaper than inside he parks? I was thinking of buying a few souvenir type things for my DD before we go in may to save a few bucks. Then I can give them to her during our trip and she thinks they are from DL.

Are autograph books cheaper at say the D store in the mall?

I am also planning to do BBB but have read that you can buy the princess dresses and other accessories before hand and then only pay for the hair and makeup at BBB. Where's the best place to get those things? And are they of good quality? Can I get the same stuff as you get BBB?

FYI I bought a brand new, still in celophane wrap Disneyland autograph book off ebay for under $10. The barcode sticker on back put it at like $24 I think?

Target often has Disney items in the $1 section at the front of the store. Also check the bins and specials at the D store. We often get things there before a trip to surprise the kids when we get on the road (we drive), when we get to the hotel, and/or throughout the trip. They love it!

Target also usually has a few princess dresses. I only remember smaller sizes, but I'm sure other places have them too.

butting in, I'm from Oregon but we're staying with friends in Roseville on the way down, so the morning we leave we are leaving from your area as well.

I am making a gift bag for each of my kids. I have a few items already. Last week I went to the Disney store and I found packs of 2 bags (nice ones) for $3. I also got playing cards for about $2. They had shirts 2 for $20, so I picked a shirt for the boys. I found a Snow White tee at Old Navy for $.97! Super excited about that! Yesterday I got a princess sport bottle thing for DD at Target in their $1 section. I also got little photo albums from Target, and I'll get some stickers for the kids to decorate them. These will be their autograph books. I got that idea from a post here. I was at Michaels last week and they had tons of Disney stuff. Everything there was about $1. Coloring books and stickers, and little toys. I Have been having lots of fun collecting little things here and there. The banana is a request from my DS. They love those little dancing pics!

Glow sticks and bracelets from a dollar store or Michael's type place. If you can swing it - buy extras. We sometimes get friendly will families when waiting for WOC or parades.

Not DL - but one trip we had a city pass so we did Universal, Sea World and the beach in San Diego too. One night in Encinitas we met this extended family having a yearly beach vacation (three couples and their kids from three states). They had a fire pit going and shared smores with us - and we had the glow items and shared with them. All of the kids had a blast - you would never have known they just met.

all of DD's princess dresses are from Target, however they are all about size 4T.

The princess dresses in the Disney store are cheaper than the ones in the park by at least $20.

Also Party City has Disney things for $1 including kid size lanyards!! They have Mickey, Princess, Tinkerbelle, Toy Story, Cars, etc. We do goody bags for the drive down.

We don't mind the drive either. I think it is pretty decent for the fun you have once there!

Have you checked Toys R Us? The one near Arden Mall usually has clearance stuff as well. And we got a bunch of nice Disney shirts on sale/clearance at JC Penney's before our Christmas trip.

It is the perfect length drive, not too long, but you know you've gone somewhere.

Oh yes, glow things. We stock up and share too. We also (at the suggestion of another Dis member) got a bunch of Disney Silly Band bracelets (I got the cheapest sets they had) from eBay before our last trip and handed those out. It was lots of fun and made my kids feel really good.

Party City has lots of little things too, in themes that are at the park(princesses, minney/mickey, Star Wars, Cars, tinkerbell). Did you check out the DISign boards here? There are tons of beautiful things you can print and the amazing DISigners will personalize most for you. I printed the pics on shipping labels and put them on baggies for special (but cheap) snacks for the car ride and in the parks. There are so many wonderful ideas there!

What about the Disney plush characters at the Disney Store? Does 2 for $30 sound cheaper than the parks for a med size? I have been thinking of doing that. Love Dumbo and the Cheshire cat.

We are from the Central Valley and I like the drive too! I am going to miss this year! We get coloring books and crayons. If I can find cross word puzzles or activity books in the dollar section I get those for the girls too. I find A LOT of stuff at our local 99 cent store. They have sports bottles, snack keepers, sandwich keepers, crayons, markers, coloring books, rubber bands, hair clips and headbands all Disney! Right now they even have the reusable shopping bags! :cool1:

The 98 cent store, here has a ton of stuff, stickers, books, bottles, and a lot more!

Not sure what part of Sac you are in but I know the Target at Birdcage has so good Disney stuff in the $1 bin. The Joann's down the street at Madison & Sunrise has some good Disney Iron-on's and lots of Disney Stuff in their dollar bin section too.

Yea I'm close to Elk Grove but if I do go to that part of town I will check it out. Hopefully the target near me will have stuff.

I also love Target! I just bought this journal to use as an autograph book. It was only $6. It's got lined paper, which is a bummer, but it just looked too cool.

I've seen dresses at Target, Walmart, and Toys-R-Us. If you check Disney store online they often have sale items, but their shipping takes a while.

I'm here at DLR now... (well, at my hotel). At any rate, there's a t-shirt shop on the corner of Katella and Harbor, and they have a sign that they sell t-shirts 4/$10. They had princess ones in the window. No idea of quality, but if you are staying nearby anyway, it could be a place to check out! (We're going to check it out tomorrow or Monday.)

We'll be down there at the end of may at the desert palms. I may have to look for that shop. Let me know if you find anything good there. What's the name of the shop?

We took my DGS4 to WDW for his first visit last SEPT. We bought inexpensive tshirts at local DIS store when they were on sale. Every morning Mickey left him a package with a new shirt to wear that day and a little gift. This kept him from asking to buy things all the time --- because Mickey would be leaving him a gift the next morning. One thing I had picked up ahead of time was a large beach towel and we got that into the room before he and his family got to the room -- because plans were to go immediately out to the pool. He was so excited that Mickey knew what he wanted. (We let him know Mickey only does this on the first visit!)
