Hey all I am looking for any tips or suggestions to make our first stay at the FW better:surfweb:. We are long time campers and 5 year in a row WDW goers but we have never done them together. We are talking about going in late Nov this year or early April next year. I would like to know about how to get to the boat that takes us to MK, the internal buses, were we can ride our bikes to and can we leave them in spots. Basically any info about getting around the fort so I can look like I know what I am doing when really I dont have a clue!:lmao: Also I dont think we will do the golf carts. Thanks for any info:worship:

How you get to the MK boats depends on where your site is. Some of the loops are close enough to walk, some invite use of the internal busses. Some people bring bikes and ride to the Marina, as well as anywhere else at the Fort. We have our own GC and use it extensively around the Fort, often parking at the Outpost for external busses or at the Marina for the boats. We always use the busses to get to AK and HS, and use the boats (and monorail) to get to MK and (EPCOT). Depending on how many are moving in our party, we often take the internal busses to either the Marina or Outpost.

It is advisable to lock your bikes at the racks provided if you are going to be away from them for very long.

Check out the map of the Fort to see where things are. Then when you know where your site is, you will be in better position to select a means of travel.

As far as where you can go with bikes. Anywhere in The Fort and the back paved path to the WL. I second bringing bike locks.

Tip,,carry a camera with you at ALL times, I'm sure that ya'll will be amazed at much of what you see at the Fort and there will be many times you will want a pic.

I agree with Frank. Many times I left my camera in my car and wished I would have had it.

For tent camping, I suggest the 1500 loop. It is only tents and popups (no generator sounds) and is right across from the pool.

Biking to the boat dock and locking up your bikes is a good idea. It's all flat - not a hard ride at all - actually very pleasant.

We brought a small, dorm room style refrigerator last time. It was really nice to have a cold drink. Also, a fan to put in the tent.

Go to the beach and watch the Electrical Water Pageant and then you can often seen Wishes in the background. It comes by the Fort around 9:45.

Check out a movie at Chip and Dale's campfire. You can get a schedule here: http://www.buildabettermousetrip.com/activity-outdoormovie.php#fort

If you can take advantage, Hoop Dee Doo is awesome!

Just enjoy it. The fort is so relaxing. :goodvibes

Thanks for the suggestions! I have been reading and I found the maps. Is it safe to say that the 100, 200 or 300 loops are within walking distance to the marina? My main concern is getting to MK. I have a 25' travel trailer with no slides and a quad cab dodge so I am maybe 45' long. Also how hard is it to get a loop you request? Thanks again:thumbsup2

DH and I wanted to kill each other.. really bad way to start the vaca.. this time is going to be different.. we have already set up the tent on a dry run.. easy squeezy ... and we are getting there first thing in the am.. :thumbsup2 bringing a micro and we are actually looking into picking up a pop up.. not sure yet .. but thinking hard about it.. if not two tents and we will pick up a fridge off craigs list.
