Things to do in Tulsa Oklahoma???

What are some things to do in Tulsa (and around) Oklahoma? We are invited to a wedding in Oklahoma. It will be about a 14 hour drive (one way). It will require a few nights stay at a hotel, plus the hotel cost on the way to and from Ok. I am trying to weigh out the cost. Gas, lodging, food, etc. Any ideas would be greatly appreaiated. TIA

My hometown! There are two awesome museums, the Gilcrease (unbelievable Native American collection and cowboy art) and the Philbrook. There is an old fashioned drive in on Admiral still open. There is a zoo, an Aquarium, a couple of Indian casinos - beautiful archetecture near downtown. (gawk at all the mansions that oil money bulit) TONS of stuff to do in and around Tulsa.

Woolaroc is a really cool museum...it was Frank Phillips ranch. It's about an hour away though..just outside Bartlesville.

There is a Hard Rock Casino in Catoosa. It's about 10 minutes from Tulsa. Big Splash is a water park.

The new OneOK baseball field downtown is really nice - fun atmosphere and cheap tickets.

I loved going to the Frankhoma Pottery store when I was younger, but it has been years since I have been there.

The Aquarium was also really nice.

Go watch Oklahoma! at an outdoor theater. It will be hot, but it is fun.

What about the musical Oklahoma!? I haven't lived in Tulsa for years, but they used to run it every summer out in Sand Springs, OK. In June also they have Juneteenth, arts, music, food, festival in downtown Tulsa. Woolaroc is located just outside of Bartlesville, OK which is 45 min north of Tulsa. It's a ranch/museum and well worth the trip out. If you are in Bartlesville, stop in at Dink's barbecue and don't forget to order the onion strings. In Claremore/Oolagah area, about 40 min NE of Tulsa is the birthplace/museum of Will Rogers. Also you'll be in quarter horse country there so you'll see lots of horses and ranches. Allen Ranch in Bixby/Mounds (about 20 min S of Tulsa) has a wonderful ranch and horses for rent by the hour or multiple hours, better yet it's not a trail ride, but free ride to take your horse anywhere you want on the ranch. The Oklahoma aquarium is in Jenks, OK next to the Riverwalk (if you go out there you must dine at Los Cabos, awesome tex mex food!) which is just SW of Tulsa. Lots to see and lots to do there and it's really a beautiful city with rolling hills and lots of trees. You might check the local papers for more events and ideas, Tulsaworld.com or the local tv stations KTUL, KTEW, and KOTV. Lots of shopping too, the Williams Center downtown has a shopping center, hotels, and an ice skating rink (or they used to, I think they moved the ice rink?), Utica Square at 21st & Utica has specialty shops and higher end retail shopping (think Saks Fifth Ave, Brooks Bros., Laura Ashley, etc), Woodland Hills Mall at 71st & Memorial has everything else. Tulsa has a really nice zoo as well. While you are in Tulsa you should try some Tulsa traditions like Jim's Coney Island Never on Sundays at Harvard & 23 ish. They have Greek coneys and chili, souvlaki, gyros, and chicken oreganato along with baklava of course. For a great burger stop at Goldie's Patio Grill at 51st & Lewis, there are other locations but I think the first one is just the best. Want great barbecue? Visit Elmer's BBQ on Peoria, Billy Ray's BBQ on southwest blvd, or Rib Crib. Rib Crib is a chain so I prefer the other two but all are great.

Heeey! I live in Tulsa! This is an easy one!

Okay so here we go:
Tulsa Zoo:It's about $8 a person. If you happen to be there on Fathers Day, it's only $4 a person.
Oklahoma Aquarium: $14 over 12 y/o, $10 for 3-12 y/o.
Tulsa Air and Space Museum and Planetarium: Adults are $12, Ages 4-12 are $7.
Oneok Field: Home of our minor league baseball team! Check out the schedule for tickets and game dates.
Brookside: Your DD's will LOVE this! Funky and unique shops, dining, and more!
Also, Check out the area around 71st and Memorial. There's a HUGE mall and a ton of places to eat! There's also a Dave and Busters (think Chuck-E-Cheese for adults. The kids can get it as long as you're with them), Incredible Pizza, and a GIANT movie theater nearby.
Utica Square is also a cute little area with shops and the like. (plus if you or your DD's have ever read the House of Night series, it is THE Utica Square with THE Starbucks that she goes too. And the school that the book is based off of is called Casia Hall and is right down the road.)

Any of the museums are cool. I LOVE Woolaroc! It's one of the coolest places ever. You have to try a buffalo burger. Yummy! It's $8 to get in for over 11 y/o, and under 11 is free.


There are a ton of hotels. I've seen some really nice ones priced between $50-$100 a night.

Some advice: I'd stay kinda clear of the Admiral area near the airport. It's not such a nice part of town anymore. But the rest of the city is AWESOME!
Downtown is clean and fun to walk around. There's the big long Riverwalk trail off of Riverside Dr that runs the whole length of the river.

Casinos are a big thing out here. But be advised you have to be 21 to enter so your DD's won't be able to go unless they're over 21.

Gas right now is about $3.75 just about everwhere.

Oh, and if you don't mind a little bit of a drive (about an hour and fifteen to an hour and a half), you could head over to Stillwater where Oklahoma State University is. It's a small college town, but it's home to Eskimo Joes! They have AWESOME food. Supposedly the former President "W" ate there and claimed they have the best cheese fries ever. Make sure you get a tee shirt.
