Things to do before/ after Hoop Dee Doo

My family DH, DS9, DS7, DS4, DD2 will be in WDW in Feb, yay! We'll be at Hoop Dee Doo on the DDP, and the day that its booked, we're having a 'down' day ie- not visiting a park. We'll probably check out downtown disney in the morning and lunch. We're staying at POR. Any suggestions for what to do before dinner? Anything to check out at Wilderness Lodge itself?

Fort Wilderness has a petting zoo and pony rides.

when we had dinner there we took the boat ride to Magic Kingdom to catch a bus back to POR. The cool thing was we were headed over to Magic Kingdom just as they were doing the evening fireworks and the boat stopped so we could watch them!!

I think they also have a hay ride,too. Just checking out the Lodge itself is pretty neat and they have a nice gift shop there and also at Ft. Wilderness (the trading post) Before dinner the kids can play on a nearby playground and you can sit on big rocking chairs on the porch enjoying a beverage. This is right next door to the Hoop De Doo review.

Thanks to all for the suggestions. Sounds like there's lots of options, so we'll let the kids decide when we get there.

Ft. Wilderness also has a Chip and Dale sing along campfire and outdoor movie. Just depends on what time the Hoop Dee Doo is that you are going to. Oh, and if you are going when it is warm, bring bug spray!

Can also visit with the horses at the barn. Big horses.

If it is a down day in your vaca don't set an alarm and let everyone sleep in! Also if there are fireworks the night before you can make it a late night since everyone will have plenty of time to sleep.
