Things that gross you out in WDW!

while people of all ages enjoy disney - it does cater to young children. not saying other people shouldn't be there - if it didn't market to families with little ones, there would be no rides for babies/toddlers/small kids.
have you been to universal - even the mildest rides whip around and have a little edge.

of course it markets to families with little ones! it also markets to adults. there are rides for little ones. there are venues, tours, restaurants, geared towrad adults.

My husband and I are a family, too. If WDW didn't cater to us, there'd be no alcohol, no Wedding Pavilion, no Jellyrolls, no Victoria and Albert's and no xl sweatshirts Disney obviously wants all of our patronage and our vacation dollars.

I do agree that people who are drunk fools need to be stopped, but no matter how many I've had to drink in WDW I've never done anything worse than giggle or spend too much $!

The people I see who behave inappropriately, I am betting do so whether sober or drunk or in WDW or anywhere else. The line cutters and loud cursers, and the me-firsters, the rule breakers, the stealers, the PDA'ers, the pushers, the close-standers, etc. are probably just "that kind".

I do not expect the world to accomodate me - but I do expect smokers to smoke in the designated areas. I do avoid the smoking areas like the plague. There have been many instances where people are smoking while walking through the park and in non smoking areas at the hotels. I was walking right outside the building on my way to Mara at AKL and some guy was just standing there talking on the phone, smoking and blowing it straight out. I was alone and he was a rather large man, and I did not feel comfortable telling him that this was not a designated smoking area. Just some common courtesy would be nice. I just hold my breath and walk through it as fast as I can. I certainly would not take away anyones right to harm themselves - that's their choice. I would just prefer not to be exposed to it.

Another issue of "that kind"- inconsiderate people. My aunt was burned by a cigarette in WDW several years ago. Someone was walking and talking with a lit cigarette in a crowd, just dangling at his side in between puffs. My aunt was passing, he lifted the cigarette for another puff. She had a mark from that one!

great post! there are all types of families. Disney caters to all of them.

If you don't want to be around little kids, don't go to Chef Mickeys! If you don't want your kids to be around drinking, don't bring them to Kimonos so they can sing Miley cyrus songs past 10pm.

but there will be alcohol at the parks and the resorts. and there will be obnoxious people, whether they are drinking or not. When my boys were young, I would use it as a "teachable moment". ie, "see how silly that person is, acting that way?"

I have no problem with breastfeeding in public. Find a comfy spot, COVER YOURSELF and your child and have at it. That's why God gave moms the equipment. BUT, last year DD and I were in line (after the stretching room) at HH and a woman was standing next to DD with everything (both sides) hanging out and her baby nursing, not even a small attempt to be discrete. And, she was getting on the ride in like 2 minutes where she could have ample time to feed. I have no doubt this woman was either European or South American as they tend to have very different ideas of what is and is not acceptable in public and, yes, I know they think we're prudes. But DD kept trying to more away from her and she just kept moving right with her. Poor kid was mortified!!! So, please, if you are going to exercise you right to nurse, please cover up!!!!

Deciding for another person's child that they should wait 2 minutes to nurse b/c it would be more convenient for you is really just funny. If it were a bottle, no one would ever feel the need to make that remark.
No mom is exercising their right to nurse by feeding their child. They're exercising their child's right to eat/drink. Very different things.
I definitely know that there is a happy medium between being totally covered and totally hangin out there for the world and everyone- but I've just never felt it necessary to have my kids sweating more than they already are by putting a blanket or something else over us just to appease those around us. If you or your daughter are uncomfortable, you are obviously more than allowed to feel that way. But your discomfort is not another person's problem. It is just simply something that you need to deal with and use it as a learning experience to just teach your daughter about different cultures and different ways to feed children and let it be. A lot of times our kids can sense our discomfort also and react accordingly.
Just try to put yourself in that child's situation. It's a lot easier to think just about the mom b/c it's who's ****s are out at the moment

people that smoke in the regular areas of the park! I used to work in Tomorrowland doing ride operations, and I cant tell you how many people avoid the smoking areas and puff away in front of all. I remember one case where the mother called me over to THE LINES and was almost crying because her daughter is getting over heart surgery (it was just the racecars that are slow as heck) and the man a couple feet ahead didnt care and kept smoking away. I kindly asked him to put it out or go into a smoking area, he then gave a nasty look and ignored me so of course i said security can come escort him out of the park where he can smoke wherever he pleased. well that worked

you gotta be kidding me! last i checked you need to be over 18 to see something like that in this country. a bottle is not obscene thats why we dont complain, but in this country seeing "that" is.maybe if people werent so degrading to women and women didnt make themselves degrading this would be all different. look at the "the hangover"...that movie used something that private made into an oddly sexual moment for one of the characters, which i think was disgusting and he should be put in jail for even creating that scene.

- the bathrooms, especially the soaking wet counters
- the tables/chairs at Cosmic Ray's, or at most any counter service restaurant in Magic Kingdom
- picking noses

my top gross-out: when you see two people who look identical, are clearly related in some way, maybe father/daughter- then they start making out and/or feeling each other up and you realize something very wrong is happening... We've seen a few of those types of interactions happen and it always creeps us out. And it's always so public!

And I believe if you read carefully...I agree with you. However your original statement was that because of your allergies all smoking should be banned from the world. No one should be allowed to smoke on property anywhere. There is a difference between being in a confined area and just walking around puffing away. Disney needs to come to the plate on this one and get the CM's to at least try and enforce that rule. Ignoring it seems to be the action of choice and it is upsetting not only the one's that hate smoke but even the smokers that have gone out of THEIR way to be thoughtful. Disney get with it and stop the loose cannons.

Drinking alcohol, or being drunk, doesn't automatically mean that it's visible. I'd guess around 98% of people who drink, it's not visible that they had anything to drink (unless of course you can actually see them drinking).

You're acting if it's a terrible thing for someone to drink. It's not. Plenty of people are very responsible with their alcohol. A lot of the time (through my own personal observations throughout life) the people who are wacky drunks are wacky people in general and don't need the alcohol to make themselves obnoxious, they come that way.

I've never seen an "intoxicated adult staggering around" in my 150ish days spent in the World, a good handful of these days spent at the International Food and Wine Festival. I'm definitely not saying they don't exist, I just think they're few and far between. And to ruin experiences for a LOT of park guests because of a few people who are irresponsible.

From my point of view, with 2 alcoholic dads(one was the fall down drunk type, the other never missed a day of work in his life and was a very responsible adult, but he spent most nights and weekends drunk)
couple my experience with my 3 adopted kids all who have mental retardation(FASD) thanks to some moms who thought alcohol was "ok" to drink while pregnant.
In my world alcohol serves no purpose..drink water, drink juice, drink soda, certainly isnt the flavor of alcohol people like, it is how it affects their brain..much more fun to be on a natural high then a drunk or tipsy or buzzed high.
I hate seeing it at Disney..went to food and wine this past year and decided I wont be back during those dates. People crowded around all in various stages of intoxication, just wasnt postive for me.
you wanna drink go to a bar or a dance club.

If one is not drinking to the point that it is noticeable then I honestly could not find a way to care less. I am not against the serving of it or the consumption of it...just the location. I just believe that a place like Disney is an inappropriate place. Drink to the point that no one notices and then the problem doesn't even exist. Beyond that...go to a club.

I understand what you are saying and that is that YOU are uncomfortable with seeing an exposed breast. Well, I have witnessed many woman breast feeding their babies and I have never seen an expose breast even once. (not that I was looking). Children are possibly the least affected by such an exposure and the reason should be obvious...that's were some of them started out having their meals. The do not associate what you so loving say is obscene with the process. That definition comes directly from your mind. So like I said, it is a matter of opinion but please do not group the rest of us in a statement like "most people feel that way". I sincerely doubt that most people feel that way at all. They might feel uncomfortable because they don't really know were to look, but shocked or offended...I doubt it.

Because they want to? I'm sorry you had some bad experience in your life with people drinking, but your problems are still a minority. People have been drinking since the beginning of civilizations all around the world. The VAST majority of people drink responsibly and don't become drunks.

Obviously Disney believes it is okay to drink when you do it responsibly. Otherwise, they wouldn't offer it in the parks, resorts, and DtD. If you have such a problem with it, then don't go where they offer it. If someone is of age and not getting fall down drunk, then really it is none of your business.

I think it's really gross to see people chewing their food, and people just sit around Disney (or even walk around!) chewing all sorts of food! It's so disgusting and vulgar. It offends me to see people chewing. That is something that should be done privately, not in public where anyone can see you! It's happening in every park, every resort, even in the ride lines and on the busses! Gross!

I wish everyone would carry around a small, lightweight blanket or towel. When they have to chew they should cover their head and face with the blanket. If they don't want to do that, they should take their food into a bathroom stall and eat in there. I don't want to have to see all that gross chewing.

What, you don't want to eat your meals in the Florida heat under a towel? You don't want to eat in a bathroom stall? Hmm...
