Things people say that annoy you...

I could care less when you really mean you "couldn't" care less.

This also drives me I even tried explaining to DH why there is a difference

The correct phrase, people, is, "I couldN'T care less." The negative makes all the difference in the world.

I can't believe that I didn't see this in the list (or maybe I missed it) but I hate when people use the word ignorant (or ignernt) instead of rude. I just shows their ignorance!

Being from Pittsburgh (and after working very hard to lose my Pittsburghese) I can't stand hearing:

A few things I find "wicked" annoying are...

"Is it hot enough for you?" Like I have some kind of say in the temperature of the day!

The other thing I can't stand is when you are having a temporary brain block, so you ask someone ...Is today Tuesday? and they ALWAYS seem to respond by saying..."All day".

Those are my 2 pet peeves!

There's (there is) for there are. EVERYONE says this now, even newscasters and Pal Mickey ("There's lots of countries in World Showcase.")

I also HATE the phrase "love all over." As in- I have a new puppy and my friends are coming over to visit and "love all over him." It sounds SO perverted-especially when refering to babies!

Axe- for "ask"
Wiff- for "with"
Calling a "pharmacist" a "pharmist" (My stepmother says this one)

I hate when people say "axed" of asked. My boss always says this. When he does I want to ask him what he did with the body after he "axed" them.

This word is used widely here in the Washington DC area... "ur-ry-body" For peets sake people the word is EVERYBODY!

DH says "supposably" and claims he is unable to pronounce it correctly. I don't know, doesn't seem hard to me.

We had a friend who used to say "kindygarten" instead of "Kindergarten".

Growing up in western PA, "iron" was pronounced "arn". I still have to think about it before I say that word or it comes out wrong.

DH say this all of the time and it drives me insane. We live in Maryland, his brother and wife live in Massachuetts. Instead of saying "My brother and his wife are come down to visit" He says "My brother and his wife are coming up here to visit". or he'll say "When we go down to New Jersey to visit my dad"... Again the last time I checked New Jersey was NORTH of Maryland.

I have an aunt that says avenew instead of avenue.

I hate it when people here (NH) say they're going UP to Florida. Sorry folks, you're going south. It's one thing if a little kid is saying it. It's another for someone who knows where the 2 states are in relation to one another to say that.
How about "same difference". If it's the same it can't be different. You say same THING

My niece emailed me about her"skewl" work. When I emailed her back I told her that she shouldn't spell it that way. She said it was cooler that way. I absolutely hate it! My brother also says "knowhatimeen" and laughs after every other sentence.

I can't stand it when a person ends a sentence with the word "with." For example:

Can I go with??

aarrgghhhhh.....It is a common saying here.

Same goes for "No offense, but......" and they proceed to offend you!

I have a co-worker who says the following..."First thing OF A morning I get my coffee" or "First thing OF A evening I read the paper"! I also have a problem with "I could care less" I know there has been a debate on this already. I think it should be I COULDN'T care less.

I also hate "eeeeeeeeeeiiiiiiiiiii" in an excruciating high pitch as a form of laughter. I have co-workers who do this all the time, constantly and it makes me want to fling myself off the roof.

I am driven to distraction (literally) by people who follow every sentence with "You know?" It has come to the point that I start counting how many times it is said and lose track of the conversation.

Axed for asked is another of my peeves.
