Things our kids can't imagine...

I just thought of one as I heard my daughter and her bestie talking about Zelda.

My kids couldn't imagine not having or being comfortable enough to show off their "fandoms". When I was growing up only "weirdos" liked certain things, like video games or anime...Let alone anyone over the age of 8 liking Pokémon! A lot of people were afraid to admit they loved stuff like that. I was obsessed with Buffy the Vampire Slayer (I even had the comics and trading cards) but only my best friend knew because I didn't want to get made fun of. I think it's good that kids are more accepting of one another and it's almost it's own trend to have that one show or thing to love! And people bond and form friendships over those things.

How about purple dittos? They would come from the machine, still wet with alcohol.

And I cringe when I think about the number of times I wrote out a whole worksheet or test, only to realize I had forgotten to remove the tissue paper separating all my hard work from the carbon paper!

And if you made a mistake, you had to very carefully cut off the carbon with a razor blade.

For the record, though, we still have chalkboards. They come in very handy when:
a) you need more than one screen-- I can put a diagram on the board below the screen, or to the side.
b) the wifi (or even the power in general) is being finicky. We lost power for an hour or so earlier this year... I forget why. I found a piece of chalk, opened the blinds for light, and finished my lesson.

You probably remember threading a movie reel on the projector. That was fun!!

And how about filmstrips. I swear I could never line up the picture exactly. :teeth:

Only having one wing mirror on a car, a wind down for the windows and not having to wear seatbelts. When I was a child we would pack a car sitting on laps.. I sudder at the thought!

Lining up film strips reminded me of my high school newspaper days. When you actually had to use light boards and contact spray glue to line up all the sheets perfectly to assemble the entire pages...if you didn't get it just right the whole page was ruined...and this was just in the 90's!!!

Again, I didn't have to experience this, but I do have an unopened package of sanitary napkins in my linen closet from the 70's that got lost somehow...and they are to be attached to a belt...mmhmmm, I appreciate what I have!!!

Not sure if this is a thing kids can't imagine, just something weird of mine......

The first (well any time actually) that I flew and there were no Krishnas handing out flowers at the airport.

Would you believe we still have it in my town? - Not everywhere, but for a few business, you have to do it...or walk reeeeeally, really far.
Only part of my drivers test I cheated on! Lol
We have very little here, I was more going towards those self parking cars:car:

and not having to wear seatbelts.
Wear seatbelts? How about the fact that until 1966 cars didn't even have seatbelts. Ironically, the Edsel was made fun of because it came standars with seatbelts in the late 1950's. "Must be a dangerous car if they have to put seatbelts in it"

Ok I'll bite. What are those?

My best guess is something to keep clothes from wrinkling, but I was hoping someone who actually knew would chime in before I chanced it.

Yep, adjustable metal devices for hang-drying pants without wrinkling and to get a perfect crease in them. My mother used to use them back in the 1960s and 1970s. They're still available.

One of my FB friends posted that photo earlier today asking "remember these?" I hadn't thought of them in decades.
