Facebook doesn't decide anything that I want to see, because I am not on it. I can see where it might be annoying though - well, except for the last one. Everyone wants random cat videos!

I am >this< far from swearing off Facebook. I've kept it for Facebook Messenger, but I recently found a Messenger app for Mac that puts it all in a widget in the menu bar, pretty cool! So really, there's little keeping me on the mud-fest that Facebook has become. I certainly don't sell things through it anymore!

Have a FB account for distant relatives or college friends who seem to like to post stuff. I rarely use it and almost never post anything. A few years ago FB quietly made a change where you can now see the posts of 'friends of friends' even if you have NO idea who they are. It didn't use to work that way. I think this was a dreadful change since previously only those you specifically added could view your posts.

FB is like any other social media site whose main concern is having more users so they can charge more to advertisers by bragging about how big their reach is. Very little incentive to keep things under control. They have ZERO interest in content moderation, so those sites eventually turn into a free-for-all.

Most of what I scroll past is relevant to me. Sometimes I’m not sure if it’s from something I follow or a sponsored post until I look at where it is from.

I get a bunch of posts on backyard chickens. Not sure where that started from but I'm okay with it lol Everything else I think has been relevant to something I've clicked on.
