I always jot down ideas before we head down. Last time we made sure to note when all the Santa's would be arriving at Epcot :goodvibes

In 2003 we had the same thing happen to our kids (and my nieces). Alice and the Mad Hatter escorted them to Mickeys house and got a private tour :). This was after we were selected to open the MK which is a whole other story in itself :).

Then they got a chance to ride the tea cups alone with the Mad Hatter which was even cooler :thumbsup2

Here are a few pics of the opening train ride stuff and the tour with Mickey.

I love the pictures! I am good friends with the Mad Hatter.

Nope, it's VERY similar to that, but Woody's Roundup is advertised on the Times Guide and I believe they do it a few times per day. The thing with Brer Rabbit and the Country Bears is not on the Times Guide and I think it's only once per day, if they even still do it. In January, we saw both on the same day!

Great thread!!

A couple of free ideas we have:

1) We have gotten lucky a couple of times and come across a ton of characters at the "teardrop" area in the Magic Kingdom. It's an area by the train station in Toontown. It's kind of hidden but if you are riding the train, you pass by it right before the train stops in Toontown. (I think it might be a smoking area?) Anyway, we think they might be doing some kind of market research or something because what appear to be cast members in business casual clothing escorting the characters out and take pictures. Last time we found it there was a cast member videotaping. You can really get a ton of pictures with all kinds of characters, some of which are rare, with little to no wait (unless, of course, the train has just let out!) Some examples of characters we have gotten are: Pinocchio and Gepetto, Darkwing Duck and Launchpad, the three mice from Cinderella, Friar Tuck, Rafiki, Dopey, and several others. You can't ask about it at guest services b/c it's supposedly "unscheduled" but we came across it around 2. If you're in Toontown, doesn't hurt to stop by.

2) Not sure if they still do this but they used to have a hoedown featuring Brer Rabbit (my favorite in case you can't tell from my avatar!!!!) and the Country Bears where they do the hokey pokey, and some other things. While I will take any chance just to see my fave in "person", last time we came across this we got to participate (thank you wedding ears!!!) I got to square dance with Brer Rabbit! I think this occurred between 4:30 and 5 in the stretch of Frontierland where the parade first comes out. Fun to watch, even more fun to participate.

The thing in Frontierland is the Frontierland Hoedown.

As for characters in Toontow, that is very random.

Great ideas. Subbing - no time to read them all right now...

Thanks for the insights!

I'm subscribing because I love these ideas!

I haven't done it, but the WL has a "Flag Family" that goes to the roof of the building and raises the flag in the early morning. If you are staying there, you ask at the desk. I would love to do it next time we stay there.

My family did this back in 2004....you can see from miles up there! pirate:

discontinued for years to the best of my knowledge (all of the 7 seas lagoon resorts did this at one point). only place to release ladybugs on property nowadays is in epcot, either as part of the behind the seeds tour or during the F&G festival.

tink at mk, fighting hook at mk by potc, hitchhiking ghost at mk by haunted mansion, simba in dak, stitch in mgm.

guess you haven't been to the spa at the GF. $65 won't get ya too much. unless of course you meant $65 was way too cheap.

Where in the parks do you get those magical pictures and are they expensive? Is there a booth in those areas or do you just ask a photographer in the listed areas to do the magical picture? How do you go about getting one?

Last year, I saw families running into Toontown at opening. It looks like if you are the first one on Barnstormer you get to ride in the first car with Goofy.

!

Hey, I know what place you're talking about! I got some great pics of my kids in OCT 2003 w/ the Sherrif of Nottingham there. We came in on the train and saw them. I always check whenever we go by; it's secluded enough there's never a crowd.

Don't forget you can ride the horseless carriage down Mainstreet USA! Just as we passed under the railroad we saw the carriage coming and quickly walked over to the sign. Sure enough the driver stopped and we climbed in! It was so amazing to ride down to the castle! People were taking pictures of us and we waved. My kids felt like little celebrities! LOL

When did you do this? I thought they stopped having vehicles go down Main Street...just curious...
