thieves?

what do you do with a slr camera if the entire family rides kali river rapids? suggestions?

Bring along a ziplock bag to put the camera into and then put it in the center compartment.

People have even had their actual strollers stolen at WDW, let alone the contents. Thieves are everywhere, unfortunately.

Ditto this. I carry a small backpack, put camera in a ziplock bag inside, and then put the whole thing in the center compartment.

Whenever walking past stroller parking areas I gotta say I'm always shocked to see so many strollers with tons of bags and stuff left there... even my kids have mentioned it, wow, can't believe people leave stuff in their stroller.

Leaving a camera... it's one thing to have it stolen and the money loss - b
ut more so the memory loss, to have lost all the pics you've taken thus far from your trip.

We carry it all with us. I wear a cross-body bag, with camera, cell, vid camera, whatever else is important and the only time that comes off of me is when I'm in our resort room. We also usually have a diaper bag and another bag with jackets or sweatshirts... and we bring those on every ride with us, just put it down by our feet on the rides, no biggie.
Even on our last trip... LOL, had diaper bag, jackets bag, 3 large shopping bags AND Duffy the bear - the biggest Duffy they sell, and yep, took it all on the rides with us. Yes, that WAS a pain. But even to leave diaper bag out... nope, if someone takes it thinking perhaps there could be something good in there, even though it's mainly diapers, but without diapers for my son that's it, there goes our park day, back to the resort we'd have to go.

If you wouldn't leave it in the shopping cart at the store for half an hour to forty five minutes unattended, it probably shouldn't be left anywhere at Disney by itself that long (in a stroller or not).

It always amazes me the amount of nice things just sitting around. There are unscrupulous people everywhere (including Disney).

This is something we learned from a friend who had her camera stolen off her body in Italy. While traveling, keep the memory cards in a separate place from your camera. Then, if your camera is stolen, at least you still have the pictures!

I take a smaller type messenger bag and that has the cameras and valuables in that. I take that on everything we go on. I only leave the snacks and stuff in the stoller. I am not chancing it!

Someone sees you hiding your stuff with a jacket. They wait until you are out of range of your stroller and walk away with the entire stroller. Then they go someplace quiet with the stroller, take the stuff off the stroller and walk away.

I never leave anything of importance in the stroller. My camera is in my right pocket, cell phone in my left pocket & DH carries our tickets. We also use a GAC (stroller as wheelchair) so our stroller is usually with us at all times through the day.

Take it with you! Did you see the recent post where a family had their diaper bag stolen at the pool. It had their 2 iphones in it. Thanks to an app, they were able to track the iphone heading across Bay Lake and caught the guy at MK.

As a general rule, cameras and valuables go always with us everywhere.

Anything else, to a backpack on the stroller.

On countless trips doing this, nothing has been touched from our stuff.

I would've loved to have seen that. :rotfl: But hey, you do what you have to do, and as much as I love buying souvenirs, I'll probably be in the same boat--giant teddy bears included.

As to the original post, I have acquired an ever-so-stylish fanny pack to keep my money, phone, and small camera in. I'll keep a backpack that I can put my camera lens and other stuff in so I can grab it for the rides. Anything that is easy to replace--diapers and snacks--I'll just leave.

I would say, though, that nothing is safe. I read on here about someone who's rain cover for the stroller...I think it was a shower curtain...was stolen. It takes all kinds. :sad2:

i have heard story's of whole strollers disappearing. People steal any place even the happiest place on earth :(

This happened to my son on his last trip to WDW. The stroller disappeared even though they had left nothing in it and had taken everything with them. The stroller was not a common one, so easy to spot.

I take my camera with me on all rides, but we leave the diaper bag and bag with extra clothes in our stroller. Our diaper bag usually has some food items, small toys for the kids to amuse them during dinner, and our autograph books.

I just can't see us schleping the 5 of us plus all of our stuff everywhere we went.

Our whole stroller disappereared. We had two strollers and one whole disapperared. Another on was left so we figured they would be back to get as it had childrens precription medicine in the basket. It was the end of the night, we waited for awhile outside the store on main street. Eventually we went to lost and found. Noone turned in our stroller or came for the medicine. We had a bunch of merchandise that was taken. Of course in hindsight that was our fault for leaving it all in the basket but who would think in the happiest place on earth that someone who do that. Our name tag was even on our strolller, but funny thing about the stroller that was left is there was no name tag. Hum!!!

I think someone could make a ton of money if they invented a small tracking device you could attach to a stroller, which could be monitored from a smart phone app. If you can track your iphone's location with an app, why not track your stroller if it has disappeared at a theme park? :)

We had our stroller taken from outside a resort restaurant. There was nothing in the basket but a couple of dollar store rain poncho's. We did try the lost and found at the hotel the next morning hoping it got turned in but no, we had to waste a couple hours the next day driving to Babies R us to replace it and some of the vacation budget to boot. :sad2:

We thought we were cautious leaving only snacks or small replaceable items in the stroller to deter a thief but we still got hit. I'm glad we were smart enough to have a small backpack to carry everything else with us into the restaurant.
I hate to see unattended strollers packed to the hilt, it makes me nervous for someone else.

I guess a smart thing to do is keep your strollers at home. Rent them in the parks. This isn't always feasible but Im sure the theives target the better strollers and overlook the Disney rentals because they cant leave the parks with them. As far as the diaper bags just pack the minimum. Its a shame that we live in a world like this but we cannot be foolish.

Last Sept. we had a folding stroller and would usually leave an insulated 31 bag in the seat whenever we parked it. We had other things in the bottom net so the bag would keep the stroller from tipping back. We parked it in front of the Big Top (can't remember what it is called) in Toon Town Fair while we went in to meet some characters. When we came out the bag was gone but everything else was left. My guess is that since the bag can look like a purse instead of a snack bag they thought they were getting some good stuff. Only issue- our DD4 has food allergies so the bag contained some snacks for her since she cannot have most of the snacks in WDW.

I would never leave anything valuable in my stroller. I have a camera bag that has my camera in it and I keep my money, CC's, KTTK, ID in it.
