I hear they charge 4 missed reservations they would not do this just because one family did it in the past it has 2 b because of multiple people right?

Certain reservations result in a $10 charge per person for no-shows. The stipulation is mentioned before you make ADRs at these locations. WDW instituted this over a year ago.

I believe they are doing it for the character meals - you have to leave your credit card or pay in advance. If you cancel within a certain time frame you are not charged, just if you are a no-show.

Yes, this is because lots of people did it. I have read numerous people say they made two or more ressies for the same dinner time because they didn't know which one they would feel like attending when the time came. We did no show for CP once - got stuck in a horrible rain storm in Epcot, were already late due to needing to seek shelter, and then we were soaked to the bone and did not want to sit in the freezing a/c, so we went back to the hotel and ordered pizza in.

I only ask because dh and I were not careful and missed out on 1900 park fair almost 3 years ago now still have not gotten over it

When you make the ressie, they will ask for a credit card. If they do have the credit card and you dont show, they will charge you. The really popular places require credit cards.

That is the e entire point of my thread they did not do that 3 years agp

Tink - What I do is put all my reservations on one page with the reservation numbers, the dates, the times and even the day of the week (because when I'm on vacation I can never remember the date :goodvibes). Then I plan my days around it and basically make a schedule. I make multiple copies in case I lose one. This helps so that we don't miss out on anything we've planned. :goodvibes

But this is only for some of the restaurants, not all of them. Obviously, it applies to the most popular restaurant. Plus, I think you have up to 24 hours beforehand to cancel, so you still could double-book if you haven't made up your mind, as long as you make it up 24 hours in advance. Plus, it's only a $10 charge (although that's per person and could add up if you've got a big party).

I don't think the system allows you to make a reservation at two different locations at the same time anymore.

I've done it accidentally and a window pops up and says it can't be done. Of course, if you really wanted to do this you could book them under different names - for example, one under your name and one under the name of another adult in your party.

Personally, I would NEVER remember to cancel my "other" reservation so I just make a plan and run with it.

ADR "NO-SHOW" CANCELLATION FEES:

1) The rule says you are charged $10 per person for "no-show" ADR's.
. . . penalty applies when none of the party appears for the ADR
. . . penalty does not apply as long as some guests in party appear
. . . character meals and signature meals usually have these penalties
. . . other meals that request a credit card hold may include a penalty fee
2) The "no-show" penalty procedure
. . . podium person lists ADR as no-show (checks "On Hold" box in computer)
. . . usually after 30-minutes tardiness you are marked as a "no-show"
. . . once listed as "no-show", your name and number of your guests are listed
. . . the computer is reviewed by a manager at the end of the day
. . . the eatery manager SOLELY determines whether or not to charge you
. . . if charged, the cost penalty is on your credit/debit card
3) Exceptions - policy
. . . penalty is not assessed for cancellations made the day before ADR
. . . for some meals, a different 24-48 hour cancel period may be in effect
4) Exceptions - not policy, but at manager's discretion
. . . cancellations for lunch/dinner made early in the same day
. . . you come to the eatery ANYTIME during the same day and apologize
. . . a few minutes tardy, podium person usually will not denote "On Hold"
5) Trial Period
. . . this was done on a trial-basis for 4-weeks in Epcot
. . . cut down no-shows by over 75% at Epcot eateries
. . . Le Cellier cut daily no-shows to 1-page from 2-3 pages
. . . now a policy, as no-shows greatly can reduce eatery revenue
. . . a no-show takes a ressie someone else might have kept

NOTE: During busy periods, there might be no grace period and
late-is-late, and they might even cancel your ADR. However, whether
the ADR was canceled due to tardiness or not, it does not affect
the application of the penalty fee. For the "no-show" fee at other
eateries, you could show for dinner with a breakfast ADR and not be
tardy or a "no-show". In fact, at two eateries I know, you are at the
front of the line for the next table even when you are late, whether
late by 15-minutes or 5-hours.

NOTE2: No-Show $10 Penalties-Per-Person (not incl pre-pay shows/meals)
• 1900 Park Fare • Akershus Royal Banquet Hall • Artist Point
• California Grill • Cape May Café • Chef Mickey’s • Cítricos
• Crystal Palace • Flying Fish • The Garden Grill• Hollywood & Vine
• Jiko • Le Cellier • Narcoossee’s • ‘Ohana • Tusker House
• Brown Derby • Yachtsman • Be Our Guest (dinner)

As this is related to dining and not theme park attractions moving to the Dining board :thumbsup2

I know this is an old thread but I'm dredging it back up because it has excellent information in it concerning reservation canceling.

I know what I read but I want to be sure: Though it says (on most ressies) 24 hours, as long as you cancel before midnight you're ok, correct? That hasn't changed?
Thanks!

Yes, cancel by midnight the night before. They may give exceptions for dire stuff, like sickness.

Where does it say "24 hours?" I've never seen "24 hours" listed on any policy. All reservations I've made say "one day." So, yes, as long as you cancel my midnight, you won't be charged.

$10 a head could get expensive with a large family. I understand charging and would too if a restaurant owner. I think a flat $20-$30 fee would be better though. Real good info in this post though. I too thought it was a 24 hour policy. Being able to cancel by midnight makes it easier and less stressful.

Doing it per person is the only fair way. Why should a couple be charged the same amount as a large family for missing an ADR? Also, Disney stands to lose more revenue when a family of 6 doesn't show than when a couple doesn't show.
