They Should Offer a "Tween" Meal Credit for Quick Service

We were at Disney for 8 nights last month, all on the dining plan. Our almost 10-year-old grandson rarely got full on the kids' quick service meals. Like at Flame Tree BBQ he had a chicken leg, carrots, drink and dessert. He finished that in a snap and was still hungry so the adults all shared their more-than-enough meals with him. Our granddaughter, age 6, was fine with the kids' quick service meals but it would be nice if they had a little bit larger meal for say, maybe ages 9 - 12.

But it's not just a credit on paper and extra cost to you, this would mean every restaurant would have to add several more meals to it's menu. The easiest thing to do is just order an extra side for him and pay for it. That is exactly what I did at Flame Tree, got a side order of fries.

you can also up the kid's age to 10 on your reservation and buy the adult plan for them.

That really only works when you book a "free" dining promotion. Aging up the kids requires that you purchase adult tickets (so, about $20 more). If you're paying for dining, however, that's going to set you back about $40 per day for each kid. You can buy a couple of adult meals for less than the difference in price!

It doesn't sound like they were on the DDP since her kid is 10 - they would get the adult QS.

I do see the need for another set of meal options. Share an adult meal if it's too big, or just don't lick your plate clean.

I agree with a customer's desire to have more choices. My DD was 9 on our last trip and a kid on DDP. Luckily it works pretty well with a group since we generally always had someone getting an adult meal that couldn't finish it all & was willing to share. Also it works for us that DD wasn't picky. However, if they really don't like the adult choices but need more quantity than the kids meal, AND you don't have adults leaving leftovers/shareables, a tween option would be awesome.

However, I'm not optimistic they'd ever do it. The kids meals are small and pretty decently priced by theme park standards & if that's not enough quantity, they get you to bump up to the bigger, pricier adult choice. I don't see much incentive for them to add in that tween choice where you'd get more for a small upcharge :(

I think that would be a money loser for Disney since they consider 10 an adult for dining purposes.

DD has just ordered adult meals since she was about 8. Not only is there more food, but the choices are more satisfying for her. She was never a nugget and fish sticks kid.

I would love to this option. Not all teens OR tweens enjoy the more sophisticated flavours of the adult menu yet need more food than is provided on the childrens
menu.

The OP said almost 10.
