Someone has just seen the I'm going to hurl commercial for the first time and oh my they are in a tizzy! (Sorry I'm in a bad mood today guess I should hug more princessess)

Should make them talk to the cast members in the college program and find out what really makes the cast members bring 'the magic'. They would probably run from Disney.

I was happy in my own little world here and ya had to post that! I am sitting on my hands next time. :teeth:

I tried that! LOL

Geez, I tried reading it, and I can't get past page 3. The only one that made any sense was our buddy Fan2CSkr who said we all benefit from healthy competition. :) Geez. It's a commercial. A commercial makes you not want to go to a theme park? Kewl. Less crowds for us!

Sadly, there are too many close-minded people in the world. Just glad I'm not one of them. ;)

Im sure 90% of them never intended to go to Universal anyway, and this is just their attempt to reason for themselves why they don't go.

Of course, it couldn't go without someone calling it similar to a six flags park which means they have no clue what they're talking about.

So far I've resisted. Although I'll admit to typing out a post and then hitting the back button after I reminded myself it's just not worth it. ;)

Blimey, the irony in that last comment.

Is the concept of business totally lost on some people? The lunatic fringe on the Disney section are the people Universal should be courting for business. These people will be in Orlando for their vacations and Universal should be trying to lure them away from Disney, even if it's only for a day. Granted some of them would never venture out of The World for love nor money, but by getting on the wrong side of them is just making Universal lose out in the long run. Universal (according to posts) lost visitors last year whilst everyone else gained, something clearly is wrong. Less revenue, no new rides, less revenue. It's a downward spiral that needs to be addressed, and by doing something positive, rather than commenting on someone else. A lot mention "less lines for us", I hope that is a tongue-in-cheek comment, because small lines will become a big problem.

I just had to post!!! It was too hard for me to resist. Hopefully I gave a different perspective though. But who am I kidding? They only hear what they want to. :stir:

Gonz, you left out the sarcastic smilie at the end of post that indicated that it was tongue in cheek.

I don't think Universal will ever get the lunatic fringe and nor do they expect to. The lunatic fringe won't even go to a neighbourhood park.

Universal lost visitors last year in comparison to the year before where they had a huge jump in visitors (due to the Mummy). They didn't expect to keep up the trend. They gained more visitors two years ago than Disney. Universal also did not have decreasing revenue. Even though the attendance was down they had an increase in revenue.

The parent company, Universal City Development Partners, on Friday reported a 3 percent improvement in operating profit in 2005, to $141 million. After paying debt interest, Universal finished with a net income of $35.3 million, up from $22.5 million in 2004.

Then if the people on this board are in NO way blinkered, why is there always a "he said this, she said that" discussion. There is a lot of growing up needed to be done on some parts, and on both sides of a rather childish divide.
