As an urban planner, I'm kinda ashamed for my profession when I hear about this. Sounds like pretty shady planning practices implemented here. But I also feel like I'm stuck in the middle up here as well... since our government's goal is to stimulate economic development and promote new growth (more homes) while also protecting the environment. Sometimes those goals conflict with one another and it's tough trying to make a decision either way.
