I was totally shocked by what DD did this morning. She's 1, turning 2 in a few weeks. Last September we took her to WDW. Of course we didn't really expect her to remember much of anything, but this morning she totally shocked me. I put on a Disney CD I recieved of park music and the "Its a Small World" song came on. DD start saying something and making a sign (she does signing). We figured out she was saying and signing 'boat,' but I couldn't figure out why.... then DUH! This was a ride in a boat! She remembered!

Yes, they do remember. However, that doesn't mean she will remember a few years down the road. She may surprise you though.

As teenager and now as a 30 year old, I can remember things I did right when I turned 3. I can't remember anything before then so.................

My 3 year old remembers stuff all the time, but I don't expect him to remember when I took him to Disneyland when he was 1.5 years old or the many times he went to Key West. My dad as well as my aunt say he won't remember when he's older. At least we have pictures!

DD6 remembers things from when she was almost 2 . I can go back as far as about 3 or 4, but nothing before then.

DS (10) remembers things from when he was a toddler. Go figure, he can't remember to turn in his homework!

It really does amaze me what they remember... and see

My DD was almost two when we went to Disney last August. Whilst we were there The Wiggles were playing at MGM so we went to see them (twice!). That along with the Lights Motors Action Show and the Fantasmic Show were for her the highlights of her trip. She talked about them for ages afterwards.

We then went back again over Thanksgiving (almost 3 months later). We were at MGM again and we walked passed the Indian Jones area (where The Wiggles had performed) and out of the blue, DD said "Wiggles". We had not even mentioned to her that this is where she had seen The Wiggles. She just remembered.

Aww what a sweet story.

My little guy went when he was just 4 years old and he remembers stuff about that trip all the time. He talks about it with me, which I know helps to keep the memories fresh. We went again when he was six and he can tell me what we did during his 4 year old trip vs. the 6 year old trip. It's amazing that they *can* remember!

My step daughter totally shocked her father when she recounted a memory of swinging a napkin over her head and talking to Mickey the last time they were at WDW. She was BARELY three years old!! She's 8 now. She is very excited to go back to Chef Mickeys as the napkin swinging made such a huge impression on her when she was so small!princess:

DS did something very like this once. We were in a restaurant when he was about 4, and there were hanging baskets of bright pink Fuchsia over the tables. He looked up and said, "Beach flowers." He had only seen them once before, at a beach near my family home in Ireland when he was 15 months old. (This particular beach is famous for the amount of Fuchsia that grows wild there, as well as for a rock formation that makes a sound like a cannon when the tide comes in -- I guess it was memorable.)

I was amazed.

Even if they don't remember (but I think that they do), they can still live in the moment and enjoy Disney for NOW!!!!
DGD will be two when we go and she already knows the Disneyland DVD by heart!!

Whoa, very cool that your daughter remembered that! I love seeing babies sign!! :goodvibes

I was a little worried that we were taking my DD when she was too young to WDW for her first time. She was about 26 months, but we were about to have another baby so we went ahead and took a trip before I had my son. About a year ago, out of the clear blue, my daughter (who will be 6 in May) says "Mom, remember when it was raining in Disney World and you bought me those Pooh-shaped lollipops?" NO I didnt remember, until she said it! I think most things from that first trip she "remembers" from photos and from mommy and daddy talking, but she is like me and remembers some of the quirkiest things! Kids are just absolutely amazing :wizard:
