I've only been doing the Disney races at WDW for a couple of years but paid attention to how fast they sold out for a year or two before starting to run them and I never remember them filling up and selling out as fast as they currently are.I know Disneyland races fill up in a day and that's crazy, but I'm seeing the WDW races starting to reach those levels.I understood last year with Dopey as it was a new concept and an inagural race that I'm sure many wanted to try,at least the first year, but I'm seeing Wine and Dine and TOT fill up at a speed I've never seen.I know the full Disney marathon about 4-5 years ago didn't fill up until like late November to early December.2013 even being an anniversary year I believe took longer than 2014 and 2015 might be sold out by early June if the trend continues.I'm planning on Goofy for 2015 and totally plan to get in during the AP week before it officially opens to make sure I get in.It's a good thing that these races are so popular but I also don't enjoy stressing out about how fast they're going to sell out.Disneyland just got another race,I think it's time for another one at WDW,obviously Star Wars themed would be the way to go.I think a full weekend of races with a 5K,10K and Half Marathon in April/early May would be ideal.

I was shocked how quick Wine and Dine filled up!!!! Star wars weekends would be soo cool!

In the early 2000's the half started to sell out very quickly a couple years and they simply added slots. That grew into the the split races we see today. Before Goofy the half would fill by May and the full in August/September.

I am not all that surprised that the W&D is on a record sell out pace. I think you will see many of the same faces at both the W&D and Avenger races.

I think another factor is that the economy may have improved to the point where folks once again have $$ to spend on non-essentials. Disney had record profits here in WDW last year.

Finally, there will be another two race announcements soon. At least I am still lead to believe that there were three new races in the works - only one has been announced. The other two were to be FL and Paris, but I think the Mouse may be looking at the speed of the Avenger's fill. The source I speak with is still amazed at the speed of sell out in CA. Could be that the other domestic race could be moved based on demand.

Any predictions for how fast Avengers will sell out? I was messaging with a friend last night--she wants to do Avengers as her first Disney race and I told her to be ready at the computer before registration even starts. I think Avengers will sell out even quicker than Dumbo.

I agree. Definitely will fill in under an hour...

There's such a high demand for California races and this is the last chance for a lot of people to get their Coast to Coast medal. I'd guess that a lot of people who got shut out of the Disneyland Half will be poised and ready to go when registration opens for this one.

Wow. 78% in just a few hours? That is fast. It's more full than the TofT 10.

I'm gonna have to be quick to get into the Marathon 10K for January when that opens. Need to re-check AP holder dates.

W&D has said 78% full since last night....I can't imagine that there haven't been any new registrations in the past 12+ hours... :confused3

How often do they update that "% full" thing? Will it suddenly jump to "sold out?"

It makes me sad that there is no early registration for Disney Visa. I think I am going to try for Goofy 2015 and I'm afraid it will be a busy day at work or something and I'll miss it! :scared:

They are sometimes a little slow to update in the morning.

Remember that W&D is an anniversary medal this year, which I'm sure contributes to the quick registration vs. ToT which is taking a lot longer.

A couple weeks ago at the Princess half I was talking to another runner who got into Dumbo. She said she was on an airplane when registration began, so she pre-arranged to have a friend register for her.
If you already know it is likely to be a busy day at work, maybe ask a friend or family member that you can trust with your credit card info to register for you?

I think this is a large part of it. People who have decided to go for the Avengers race but didn't do a half at WDW earlier in the year are thinking Coast to Coast.

W&D is now sold out as of about half an hour ago.

I think the insanely fast sell out is due to a combination of a few things:
1. The hype of races selling out quickly may now finally be affecting W&D, and people want to get in early.
2. This is an anniversary year for W&D, and people will want to be there for that (heck, I specifically wanted to do it again this year for this exact reason)
3. C2C with the Avengers

I'm surprised Wine and Dine took over 24 hours to sell out. I just wonder at what point runners will stop registering for Disney races. I'm reading that this undercurrent is going on now. Cost, stress of registration, crowded courses.

Keep an eye on your D Visa site. Their exclusion from early registration is a very recent thing. Maybe they will be back for January.

I would stack it 312... but your 123 is just as valid. Though I think if the avenger race had not yet been announced the W&D would still be open this evening.

I wasn't really doing it in any particular order, but I am not entirely convinced there is a mass "run" towards C2C with the Avengers. I think there will be several people attempting it, but not SO many that it would cause W&D to sell out this quickly...mainly because the races are only a week apart, yet also an entire country apart. I just wonder how many people are realistically going to do that. I have no doubt Avengers will sell out just as fast, if not faster...but I don't know if that announcement was the primary reason for the insanely quick sell out of W&D. But, ultimately, who knows?

Wow, I expected W&D to sell out quick, but not that quick! I do think a small part is this year's race will be an anniversary year. I have noticed (maybe its always been there) but in ads for the races it states "Fills up quickly" so I wonder if people planning further ahead.

I am nervous about the 2015 WDW Marathon sign-ups. I am aiming for my first full and plan to register opening day. However I have several family members wanting to do the 5K and possibly even the 10K, the latter sold out in like 8 hours last year!

I do hope Visa card members will be included in early registration again for the 2015 races.

Just curious, what are the race limits for WDW vs. DL in terms of number of races for each race?
