Someone needs to put a lock on the thermostat here at work. It was cranked up to 80 this morning. Someone came by and turned it down to 76. Back up to 82. Back down to 75. Back up to 80. Back down to 72 which caused the air conditioning to kick on, so then the whining started about that. So now the thermostat is set at 85 and it is sweltering in here!!

Let the games begin!
I worked at one place where this got so bad that the boss had a keyed lucite box installed over the thermostat. Only 2 keys: manager's & head janitor.

Now for the thermostat wars on the home front!

:rotfl2: Ours actually HAVE a lock and it doesn't help because the thermostats are never correct. It's freezing in here in the morning but by 3:00, it's up to about 85. :confused3 I hate to complain because then it will be so cold all day that I'll need to use a blanket.

I'm thermostat queen in my home. it doesn't make the king happy though.

Frigid in the summer and toasty in the winter.

Wintertime I do not like any chill in my indoor air.

And in the summer, I don't like any hint of feeling hot in the air.

I just don't understand why 74 is good for me in the summer but too darn cold for me in the winter.

Drives the hubby insane!

When I worked--the heating was vary barren so we all had space heaters in our offices. You could probably bake an egg on my desk in the winter.

Did you know that those little straw/coffee stirrer things fit nicely through the openings in those lucite boxes. ;)

At the house that I work in, the curator loves the temp up to 80!
We have been known to refer to this as 'senior temp' :teeth:
The only advantage I have is, being an historic house the thermostat is well camouflaged, so it's only Mr. M. & I duking it out. :rotfl2:

:offtopic: I have been wondering just that, why is one temp not fine all year 'round?
Is it because comfort level runs proportionate to dollars expended to achieve?

Lisa, you'd cringe here :teeth: Our thermostat is set for 56! :cold: We live in a very 'charming, rambling' (translation: 225+ yr old, drafty) colonial tavern. We do have a Kerosun for the shop! (Heaven forefend the tools get chilly! ) & a small electric heater for the bathroom (Our bathroom adds a whole new dimension to 'cold showers'! :scared: )
We do use room ac's in one bedrm(MY bedrm :teeth: ) & the family room.

My ideal temp is 64, year 'round! :thumbsup2

Humidity factor I believe. Dry as a pop-corn fart in the winter which make the cold feel colder.

That is why many places instale fake thermostats. people think they have control over ther temp, but the real one is inaccesable to most employees.

Here we fight over it all the time. I hate it being too high at night because it dries out my nose, but that man likes it like a sauna!

Funny way to put it but that is probably it.

We have very humid summers and if it is too warm in the house (Say at 77 degrees)--I begin to "feel" the outdoors.

And in the winter I like the chill in the air outside--but not in my home. So I heat until the chill is gone which requires a tad hire temp.

Usually I am 74 for the A/C and 78 for the heater.

If it is in the low to mid 70s--then I love the windows open.

I wish I could just be warm at work period. I am now in a more open area, basically a warehouse type area, with tin roof etc. I am also situated near a door that leads to outside. Well the idiots that work here, keep opening the stupid door to blow out dirt/dust/cat hair out of the cable boxes, and all they are doing is letting out what little heat there is, and letting in all the cold air. Course they being of the male gene, seem to think it is funny when I am bundled up, and tell them to shut the %$@# door..its only 30 degrees out. .

Now at home I keep the thermostat on 67, and then I live mostly in the basement :rotfl: where it is about 10 degrees cooler than upstairs..long as I have my warm slippers, and long sleeve shirt on, plus my blankey...I am very comfortable.

man! my dad doesnt let us really use the heat we have to keep it usually at 60-62!!!! and i dont live in florida i live in nj!!! thank goodness i have a space heater in my room!

Since I am nearing menopause, I have appointed myself the chairman of the home thermostat. No questions asked! HE will just have to get over it. AND since we commute together every day, I even control the car's thermostat. Life is good!

Oh, it's ON at my job....You have the menopausal mommas in one corner, and the young girls in the other. I'm right in the middle, and have been spiking a temp for a month now, every day. So I flip-flop back and forth depending on whether I have a fever or not!

Any given day the thermostat goes from 60 to 90, and all the while one group is complaining. I actually layer for work, that way I can shed or put on clothes as needed. :rotfl:

I couldn't stand being in a place that was over 80! At home I have the temp set at 66 winter or summer!
