I bought a thermo electric cooler for our trip to CBR in 4 weeks.

I got a Coleman, 40 quart at Walmart for $67.88. I would have spent $84.80 on the rental fridge. I've saved money and get to keep something.

I love this thing. I took it out of the box last night to have a peak.

It comes with a 12 V plug for the car and a 120 V plug for a regular outlet.

You can use it like a chest (regular cooler look), or turn it on it's side and it looks like a small refrigerator.

It has one shelf that is adjustable.

It will cool or warm. I think it's going to be great. It will hold the equivalent of 52 cans of soda so it's plenty big.

I hope this helps someone. We take a cooler with us almost every trip we take, and I love the idea of no ice.

Thanks for reading

I have one & love it. We have a conversion van that we drive down from philly, & we keep it between the front seats for snacks & drinks for the kids. Great investment. It is also great for parties at home.

You'll love it. :) It holds way more than the little fridges you rent. We've taken ours to WDW with us the last three years and it was great...we usually kept sodas & breakfast items in it for a quick meal before the parks (when we didn't have a PS). This year we're flying so it isn't practical to bring it with us but we'll miss it. Have a great trip!

Hi. My husband and I are looking to buy one for our trip. I was wondering if it continues to keep cold even after the vehicle is turned off. We may be getting into Disney before our room is ready and wouldn't want the things in there to spoil.

Thanks!

I bought one too at Walmart!
I use mine in my office to keep soda's and snacks cool.
I LOVE IT!!!
Haven't used it in the car yet, but someday.

Great idea on bringing one and saving some money.

:D

We've had one for about 10 years, actually more than one. We started with one that held about 6 cans of pop and now have one that is the size of a cooler. We also have one that fits between the van seats. We absolutely love it because it saves us tons of money. We take our own pop and water and breakfast foods. We drive to WDW and other places and would never leave home without it.

how did you get the cooler for $68. I checked on line and the price is more like $110.

TIA

The price of $68 was from Walmart.

The website for Coleman and Igloo shows the same coolers for over $100.

It is a Coleman 40 Quart Thermo-Electric Cooler. It will hold a lot of stuff.

Igloo makes one that is 50 Quart (about $88) but I couldn't find one. Walmart's web site sells it, but it gets expensive with shipping.

The 40 quart is certainly adequate at least for us.

Check your local walmart. Our Supercenter didn't have it, but the little Walmart on the other side of town did. go figure.

Good luck and I hope this helps. I think you'll really enjoy it. (especially if you were planning on renting a refrigerator).

My past three WDW trips, i've used my Igloo electric cooler and it is wonderful. We use it whenever we take a trip and it has paid for itself many times over. If you get there and your room isnt ready you could probaly have it plugged in at the baggage storage area. Having it has allowed use to take sandwich meat, cheese, mayo and mustard, allowing us to have lunch or supper in the room cutting down even more on cost and the convenience of just making something to eat without going out and getting something. WE try to keep our costs down on trips as much as possible and this helps in that regard tremendously. We usually just have lunch in the parks, half the time counter service and half the time sit-down restaurants. You can't control how much your tickets cost, and we try to get the best deal possible on Disney Resorts, but eating is the variable where you can control the amount of money you spend.

We have one of these coolers also. Let me share two things that you should be aware of. If you leave it in your car plugged in overnight it will run your battery down. Also when you use it in a hotel room, mine will sometimes try and freeze up. I think it is because the room is already cool and the temperature that the fridge cools down to winds up being 32 degrrees or less. I would be curious to know if anyone else has had the freezing up problem, or is it just my cooler?

What a GREAT idea! thanks! I think I'll get one to use for our upcoming trip to WDW and to have on hand for holidays when the fridge is filled to capacity.

by the way - try some of the search bots like MySimon.com, nextag.com or DealTime.com for good online prices.
