Anyone have some advice for touring in the rain, or when there is likely to be rain?

What will close/be cancelled? Where are some safe, dry locations to wait it out?

Thanks!

I actually wouldn't worry too much about the rain. I'm not saying don't be prepared but weather.com only has 30% chance for today and next weekend is only about 50%. And it's calling it showers which doesn't sound like serious rain to me. Accuweather.com doesn't even show rain for next weekend (not sure if that's when you were planning on going). So anyway, be prepared, yes but I wouldn't really worry. It (most likely) won't be serious rain.

Also, I believe the teacups and Alice close in the rain.

Alice & Teacups close in the rain, everything else should be open. I checked accuweather.com and weather.com last night, weather.com showed a 95% chance of rain next Monday and a 70% chance on Sunday, accuweather.com had no rain listed and a high of 70 on Monday! I'm going with accuweather.......lol our last 2 trips were in the pouring rain, it's time for a nice dry trip to DL for us. :)

Thanks for the responses!

How about California Adventure? What closes there?

And, I'm not actually the one travelling, it's a question for a friend and I don't know when she is going. I understand it to be soon, though!

As far as I know nothing closes in DCA, I've never noticed anything closing anyway.

Regarding DCA, I would advise NOT doing California Screamin during a heavy rain........the take off would be painful being pelted with rain!! :rotfl:

Me too-Screamin' in the rain hurts! :scared1:

As PP have said, I wouldn't worry about the rain until the trip is actually here. Last week there was rain predicted (30%) on Sunday. Saturday and Sunday were both beautiful, sunny days. In the 80's :sunny:

However, that being said, rides I would avoid during heavy rains are: Sceamin', Maliboomer; Jumping Jellies; Mullholland Madness; and Zephyr. Even if they don't close them because you will get wet (maybe soaked). Also I would stay off of Grizzly unless I was wearing a poncho.

A great place to go in the rain (and any time :goodvibes ) is the Animation Building at DCA. Check out the Animation Academy, Turtle Talk with Crush, and Ursula's Grotto. :)

Bring a rain jacket and have fun. Rain in California can be brief or the sky-opening downpour variety. Just know that 90% of the park will empty out and you'll have it all to yourself!

Fireworks, Fantasmic, Golden Zephyr, the swing ride, and Sun Wheel all have wind limits. All indoor rides are left open of course. You could still get in a lot of rides at DCA if it rains. Well dressed persons can brave the rain and see an empty park.

Have good jackets and enjoy the emptier park if it rains. I would avoid California Screamin' as it pelts you the whole way through. Big Thunder wasn't too bad, but you may get an occasional raindrop in the eye. I've seen rain empty the parks out, and keep them that way. A couple of weeks ago it rained for 3-4 hours in the afternoon, stopped raining for the rest of the day, yet Disneyland remained pretty empty for the rest of the evening.

So...you're the reason it keeps raining on me when I visit DL. You wouldn't happen to be going this weekend, would you;) I'd like a dry visit for once.

You go too much;) We're staying at Fairfield, I'll send you a PM once I find out when we leave on Friday. Remember, 243k on TSMM will be difficult to beat.

Back on topic - I recommend taking a shamwow to wipe off seats. It's kept my bum dry multiple times.

Bring a poncho and enjoy it while everyone else floods out of the gates. :) It sprinkled/lightly rained today and people were rushing to the exits. Only lasted as long as it took me to buy 3 princess dresses and some pins.

I brought disposable emergency ponchos for everyone and we just reused them (and also kept some in our bags because it looked a little cloudy some days) they were the best things I could have gotten! We tried to go one day when it was POURING and that wasn't an option! We didn't even get 200 ft before we were soaked head to toe with our ponchos!

One other piece of advice that I would give to you is wear Capri's! When I tried to go to DL the one day it was pouring I was wearing pants and they soaked up all the water and started dripping into my shoes! When I wore Capri's, my feet were dry and warm the entire day! My friends pants were very wet on the bottom (All of them) and they were complaining about having cold feet! (Which is funny because they are already married :rotfl: )

One thing I would have done differently would be to bring rubber boots, I had the room and even had them packed but for some reason I decided that wouldn't be a good idea! Live and learn!

Me?? you've been there as much as I have I think....LOL I will wait for your PM. :) We are leaving Friday around 3 and we are staying at the Peacock. I have NO aspirations to beat your score, trust me on that one! LOL
I too was going to recommend a Shamwow or an Absorber, we have Absorbers and man, they work GREAT!
