I bought my plane tickets (US Air) over the phone back in Oct. They sent me a confirmation- type paper with our schedule on it. Now what do I do? Every time I've flown in the past, I've had actual documents (tickets) in my hand. This time I only have this paper. Do I take it to the counter when I check my bags and they'll issue our tickets/boarding passes? What if we want to check our bags curbside? I still have to wait in the line at the counter, right? Otherwise, how will I get my boarding passes to get through security?

I feel like a dork! (and I've travelled quite a bit over the years!)

You have an electronic ticket. You will get your boarding passes when you check in. You have several options:

You can check-in and print your boarding passes at home via their website, then check your bags at curbside.

Or, you can check-in and check your bags at curbside.

Or, you can do self-service check-in at the kiosk and check your bags with the kiosk check-in agent.

Or, you can check-in and check your bags at the ticket counter.

I suggest bringing along a copy of the paper (which is the passenger receipt) describing your itinerary.

Normally you would not have to show it to the check in agent but once in awhile ressies get screwed up and then having the paper with you as a confirmation will help. You would need to show this paper to the curbside baggage agent if you did not get your boarding passes yet and you want to check baggage with him.

If you have no checked bags or used the curbside agent to check bags, and also you succeeded in printing your boarding pass from your home computer or the kiosk at the airport, then you don't need to wait in the ticketing line but instead may proceed directly to security lines.
