There's been a shooting at our high school..

I was at my doctors office when I heard the news.. A 15-yr.old student fired 3 shots at a special ed teacher in the hall.. One shot hit him in the leg and fortunately he's going to be okay..

The shooter is in custody, but the school is still in lock-down.. Obviously there are a lot of parents trying to get to their children..

Of course I'm sitting here thinking - "Not OUR school.." Just goes to show it can happen anywhere..

Yikes. Thank God the teacher is going to be OK and no one else was hurt (at least not physically). I hope that the students can band together, and find a way to feel safe in that school again.

Oh, that just tears me up inside. I can just imagine the frantic feeling many parents have that, as you said, want to get to their kids. I have tears in my eyes just thinking of this craziness in the world. Thank Heavens the teacher will be ok.

Upstate New York.. One of the girls who was in the hallway at the time made a frantic call to her Dad on her cell phone.. He was driving a delivery truck at the time and literally left it right in the middle of the road to hitch a ride with someone else to the school.. When he got there they wouldn't let him on the grounds and the poor guy is going nuts.. All of the other students are going to be transported to the Jr. High where parents can pick them up, but his daughter has to stay at the high school because she was an actual eye witness..

I know it sounds stupid, but I just can't believe it happened here.. It's a suburban high school with a great reputation - lots of people move to this town just so they can send their kids to that high school.. (I went there myself..)

I'm anxious to know what prompted this incident and if the shooter was a student of this teacher.. The teacher is also the girl's basketball coach..
