The roads are so bad that the radio station is filled with calls about accident/traffic updates. Traffic is backed up all over town. Kendra's school bus was over 1 hour late because of the roads. I would have driven her, but if the roads are that bad I surely don't want to be out in it.

I'm not sure if I even did the right thing by letting her go. If the roads are that bad should I have even let her ride the bus? Now I'm gonna be worried about it. I'm writing a letter to the superintendent!!!

A letter is a good idea. I'm surprised that they had school in your area if the roads are that bad. Perhaps the school board is concerned about getting in all of the instruction days required by law and/or they don't want to have to extend the school year.

I hope your daughter's bus has no problems bringing her home this afternoon.

Oh, man, and hour late! It must be bad. I hope your dd and her classmates stay safe. I'm sure the bus driver was being extra careful.

I totally agree! Our kids shouldn't have had school today either. We got ice, ice, ice! The roads aren't completly iced over but they are a mess! And with the freezing rain still coming down its just awful! The ice is weighing down the tree limbs and they are falling all over the place. If J.C. hadn't missed so much school when he was sick last month I would have kept him home today.

wvjules,

Same thing here in Kanawha County. I always go early but it took me 15 minutes longer because I beat the traffic. We had some kids sitting on buses in traffic for 90 minutes. We should have had at least a 2-hr. delay. They highways dept. must not have seen this coming because our roads had not been touched when I was driving to work.

Jules,

I was surprised this morning that there was no school here in Marion county, but it turned out to be the right decision! We have about three inches here and the streets in our neighborhood haven't been touched.

Guess Mon county is determined not to miss any more days since the school year is already extended as far as it can legally go:rolleyes:

I was really surprised to see Marion County closed and Mon not even having a delay.

We had about half the schools closed and the others started 2-3 hours late. A friend of mine had 7 students in her class. Others had 5 or so. What a waste!

It was so bad yesterday morning that they (EMS/911/State Police, etc.) still haven't compiled all the numbers of accidents.

Did they have school today? Are the roads better today?
