there is a hair dryer in the rooms, right?

There is, of sorts.

It is in the bathroom, but not strong AT ALL in my opinion...If you have thick hair of any kind, and you must blow dry it, then I would bring my own..

If you call what they have in the room a "hair dryer" then they come with one :rotfl2:
It gets hot when you hold it becaue you have to hold it so long.
It also makes my hair frizzy so I only use it to style a bit and try to let it dry naturally the rest of the way.
Hair dries faster on deck! :lmao:

I found the hair dryer worked just fine. No worse than the standard hotel hair dryer.

It looks more like a vacuum cleaner hose with a nozzle attachment at the end. I found it very awkward to use and, as someone else said, it gets hot to the touch. We now always bring one of our own. Just be aware that there are no outlets in the bathroom (only one for shavers). If you bring your own you will need to plug it in at the vanity/desk area and use it with the mirror there.

i never had any problems either when i used it but then again i had shorter hair then so that couldve been why too.

Bring your own. The one in the bathroom is pretty pathetic for drying hair. My hair isn't very thick and I ended up switching to my own hair dryer.

If you are picky, bring your own. The quaility of hair dryers on board apparently varies from cabin to cabin. They are commercial 1500 watt wall mounted hotel units.
DD has long thick hair and the air coming out was so hot she was afraid it would damage her hair. (Her home dryer is 1200 watts)

So, bring your own if you are picky, but remember, you will be in humidity and wind, so it will all be undone by the elements shortly.

I bring my own and an extension cord so I can dry my hair by the desk instead of using the horrid one in the bathroom (I use it on the final morning of the trip and that's more than enough for me).

The answer also may depend on which ship.

The Magic/Wonder have the "vacuum-cleaner" kind of dryer that doesn't seem to work so well.

The Dream has a regular plug-in dryer that should be plugged in at the desk where there is a 220 volt plug in order to have full power.

We were on the Wonder on May 31st sailing. The rooms my parents and my family were in had that old style that has been described. We were in 6030 and 6086.

If you have thick hair... bring your own. I have short thick hair. At home with my dryer, I can get it dry in about 5-10 minutes. Drying my hair took at least 20 minutes, and the hose thing gets hot when you are holding. Wish my hair did okay letting it dry natural, but it doesn't... Will be taking mine on the Magic in January.

Does anyone know how the hair dryers are on the Dream?

They are great- IF you plug them in the desk outlets.
I have very long thick hair and so do both DD's are we found they worked great.

I wish I knew about plugging them in at the desk. I used it in the bathroom and even on my short hair it was like having someone blowing their own breath on me....:headache:

Here's the deal with the "strength" of the hair dryers. The Dream supplies you with a 220V hair dryer and you will notice an electrical outlet that is label "for hair dryer". This is a 220V outlet and it blows strong. There are other outlets that have the same configuration (european style with two round pins, rather than US style sith 2 flat slots), but they are clearly labeled 110V. You can use the hair dryer in this outlet, but you will be dissapointed with its performance.
