There is a First Time for Everything! A June 2013 PTR!!! EXCITING NEWS 4/2!!

Hello and ​

I have been a long time lurker on these boards and have never taken a trip worth writing a PTR and TR about! So you all should feel very special because I am going to finally start my first ever PTR. I hope you all enjoy it. I have gotten some great ideas for my trips and trip reports from my fellow DISers, so I really hope its not too boring! Now on with the Whos, the Whens, the Wheres, and the Whys!

WHO:
First up is me!

Hi, my name is Kristin and I am a fellow Disney Freak. I am 27 years old and I am from the 219 in Indiana aka Northwest Indiana aka the Region. I have lived here my whole entire life and really have no plans of ever leaving. I love it here. I have been going to Disney World since I was a wee little one. I had lots of family that lived in Margate, FL on the East side and my grandparents spent their winters in Sarasota, FL on the Gulf side. So I guess you could say that every Christmas break was spent in Florida. I graduated from a Purdue extension and got my BS in Accounting. I currently work at a credit union and hope to eventually be an accountant at a larger company. I love numbers and being organized, hence why I have an itinerary planned since mid-September!!! Here are some more interesting facts about me:
Favorite Disney Movie: I have too many&.so here is my short list in no particular order&Tangled, Beauty and the Beast, the Lion King, Aladdin, Finding Nemo, and the Toy Story trilogy.
Favorite Disney Ride: Splash Mountain
Favorite Disney Music: The Space Ship Earth loop and the Tangled soundtrack
Favorite Disney Park: MK
Favorite Disney Resort: Beach Club

Second is my DH

Ok so he really isnt Flynn Rider&I honestly for some reason cant find a recent pic of him that is halfway decent. He absolutely hates his picture taken. Little does he know we will be getting every single photo-pass picture done on our trip! Oh, his name is Andy and he just turned 34. We have been together for a little over 5 years. He is pretty laid back and is letting me take reign on this trip and plan out everything! I think he will enjoy the food the most. He has never been to Florida let alone Disney World! He is really into electronics and a nerd at heart! He loves to relax and go with the flow. And its sad to say but he is a non-Disney lover. When he found out that I am a Disney Freak he just looked at me weird. He doesnt understand the magic and excitement that goes along with Disney but he soon will. I am positive that once he walks into MK and sees the look on his kids faces, he will be hooked.

Up next is my DS

This is Sam, video game extraordinaire! Technically he and his sister are my step-kids. Long story short, they have lived with us for over four years now and I consider them my own. I love them very dearly and I am excited to take them on their first ever Disney trip! Sam is 12 years old and started middle school this year. He loves playing the sax and of course video games!! He is a big teddy bear and has a very kind heart. He is very excited about going to Disney. He loves to spend time with his dad, so hopefully there will be some father-son bonding time going on! I have a feeling that Sams favorite park will end up being DHS. He loves Star Wars so I am pretty sure we will ride that a few times!

Last but not least is my DD

This is Kazmira. I always call her Princess Kazmira because she is such a royal princess at heart! She is daddys little girl and is such a caring and giving child. She just turned 9 and is so excited about going to Disney. We havent told her about our trip yet and are planning on surprising her when we get down there. She loves to dance, sing, and read. She is also very dramatic which should be interesting on this trip! I know her favorite park will be MK because of Fantasyland. She asks me every day if we are going to Disney and about how she really wants to meet all the princesses and get them to sign her book!

WHEN:
Originally it was supposed to be June 8th-15th but my best friend is getting married on the 8th and I cant get off work the rest of the week so we are going to leave Friday June 14th and drive through the night and arrive in Disney on the 15th. Unfortunately this has changed yet again because of a convention for DH's work that he has to attend. Now we will be leaving late June 16th and driving straight through and arriving in Disney on the 17th. Then we are going to stay until Sunday June 23rd! So are dates are now:
June 17th-23rd

WHERE:
POR. I chose this resort since we are driving and have a car. I booked a standard room because I could care less where we are located at. I think DH and the kids will really enjoy the laid back environment of this resort, so I think it will be a good fit for our family!

WHY:
It is our first ever family vacation. The four of us have never gone anywhere together and we are excited for some family time! Also we wanted to make sure Kaz was still 9 so we could save a few bucks.

So, since we changed our dates a little bit I had to redo almost all of our ADR's. Thankfully I already had some backups reserved in case I decided differently. In the end I think it all worked out so much better than I ever thought!! So here are the revised ones. In the future I will put new/updated reservations in blue and for the ones I have cancelled I will put in red ! so you know I changed them! Hopefully I can just stick to what I have and not mess with it too much!

So we have been having some crazy weather up here in NWI! A few days ago it was snowing like crazy with white outs and drifting, then yesterday it was an ice storm, and now tomorrow its going to be like a warm spring day! I promise you all that I haven't forgot about my little PTR! I got assigned a new project at work and have been working like crazy to get it finished by the end of the month! Hopefully by the weekend I can post what our agenda for each day! I am so blessed to have a really easy going DH who will just go with the flow! I can't wait until June!!! 138 more days!!! Well, I have some good news and bad news!

So, on Wednesday I found out that my DH has to attend a convention for work on the weekend that we are supposed to be driving down to Disney! This was the timeline of my emotions after I found out ---> -->-->--> He will be gone from June 14th to the 16th. I was sooo upset when I found out! After allllll that planning and organizing I did, I felt like my world was going to collapse and crumble underneath me! Of course I immediately texted allll of my friends(non-disney lovers of course ) and they are were like whats the big deal just plan around it! So then after declaring to each one of them that our friendship was no more if they really didn't understand the emotional turmoil I was feeling (.....ok I confess I didn't say that...I really do love my friends even if they don't understand me!), I decided to just get over it and make the best of it!

So, after having numerous grueling one sided conversations with my DH, we came to the conclusion that we would drop two days at the beginning of our trip and add one at the end. Thus making our dates June 17th-23rd. We are going to leave on the 16th around 8 or 9 and head down.

There are definitely some positives with this change of events! One is we are saving money because we will be staying one less night! Another is that I won't have to take any extra vacation days before the trip to get prepared. I will have all day Saturday and Sunday to pack and organize! Another is that my itinerary will actually work out better than the last. We won't have as much down time but it will all work out in the end! Plus I am pretty excited to replan everything! It will give me something to do!! So I am going to work on making some new ADR's and agendas this week. So, I PROMISE that I will have a new update about my trip by Tuesday or Wednesday! We have stayed there before. It was before the return. We are really looking forward to it now that everything is newer, though we didn't complain at all before. My husband got spoiled with a pool view room though!

Thanks! I am actually more excited about our plans now than I was before!!! It will take us about 18 or 19 hours to drive. When I was younger we drove down there every year so I am quite used to it. It will definitely be a fun experience to share with my family! Hopefully the kids will sleep during the night so they aren't too crazy!

I am really excited to stay there. I have stayed at POFQ before and really enjoyed it! So I am hoping POR is similar with the ambiance. It is quite a drive...about 18 or 19 hours from where we are. It will take awhile to get there but I am sure a lot of memories will be made along the way!!
