Reading the resort discussion board, I have read about the higher than normal frequency of room upgrades at AKL (from standard room to pool or savannah) and I was wonder what everyone thought the reason for this is? On Deb's website she list the number of different rooms as:
"Standard View (facing the parking lot) 135 rooms; Pool View 136 rooms; Savanna View 724 rooms; Deluxe Pool View 33 rooms; Deluxe Savanna View 191 rooms and 55 Concierge rooms. There is also a Presidential and Vice Presidential suite as well as 5 one-bedroom suites and 12 two-bedroom parlor suites."
So out of 1293 rooms, only 135 are standard. That is approx 10% of the rooms. So, I wonder if the AKL takes more reservations for standard rooms then they really have and then when all the standards are taken they have no choice but to put guest in a pool or savannah view.
Or...The hotel isn't filled to capacity and there are extra rooms, so they upgrade guests when they check-in.
So what is the theory on all these room upgrades??
