Theming That's a Little TOO Good! Examples...

(1) The seagulls at the Canada pavilion in Epcot really make you feel like you're in the maritime provinces. But they can be a nuisance. (Of course they're really just there for the MacDonald's french fries!)
(2) The new restrooms near Expedition Everest in AK are so authentically dilapidated on the outside, you expect to find a trench and a couple holes in the ground inside! Not at all inviting! (Of course once you go in they're just like all the other restrooms.)
(3) At the Polynesian Resort, second floor rooms do not have balconies for reasons of authenticity, and during the Christmas season, they play Hawaiian Christmas music outdoors near the pool. (Interesting, but it doesn't really get me in the Holiday spirit.)

That's funny because I overheard two elderly ladies talking about using the restroom at AK (I don't remember what land). One lady said to the other, "I need to use the restroom but I am not going to use this one, it looks like it's about to fall down. Why do they let it get this awful? You would think with all the money they get here at least they could paint the outside and fix the cracks in the wall."

When Tower of Terror first opened at MGM. Our group was going through the outside queue. When we reached the "dry fountain" just before the porch, one of our group said, "Gee, I didn't think Disney let things go like this. They used to keep things so clean. There's no water and its full of leaves..."

Then it dawned on him that maybe it was SUPPOSED to look delapidated.

Well, considering they only finished building it a few WEEKS ago (just like the restrooms at EE are now)... yes, I guess it IS "supposed" to look like that.
Very authentic.

We were at AK about a month after it opened and we were walking next to a couple of older ladies through Africa. While we amazed at how detailed the theming was, they we discussing how "run down" Disney had let the place get already!

The one complaint that really sets my teeth on edge concerns 'Dino Land' in AK. Many folks comment that it looks like some tacky, roadside attraction straight out of the 50s. BINGO! That's what it's supposed to be, and if you think that's what it resembles, the Imagineers have succeeded. Anyone who's been to WDW enough to comment that, "Gee, I didn't think Disney let things go like this. They used to keep things so clean. There's no water and its full of leaves..." should know that, what a thing in 'The World' looks like is most probably what Disney intended it to look like.

In Nowary after you get off the Malestrom, you are kind of stuck in the waiting area until the door open o the movie area. It was dimly lit and for some reason kind of creeped me out after i had been in there for 10 minutes. It had a real feeling to it with the buildings and ships unloading. I dunno, but when they opened the doors, i was happy to be out.
