OK, apologies to anyone I may offend with this but I was reading my unofficial guide last night and was checking out the movie themes at the Allstars. Toy Story (great!) Dalmatians (another good one) Fantasia (good), but Mighty Ducks and Lovebug? From what I can tell, these aren't exactly big draws (maybe I'm wrong).

With such a great range of movies to choose from (I'm thinking Lion King, Peter Pan, Cinderella, Beauty and the Beast, the list goes on), surely they missed out on an opportunity to make it even more 'disney' than it already is. Now I've never stayed at the Allstars, so maybe I'm way off base here, but doesn't anyone else find their choice of movie themes a little strange?

Disneymoon04 and 123Joanna123,

Ou family is leaving Aug 1st for disney, we are staying our first night at ASMo. I requested Love Bug section. We love Herbie the Love Bug and he is very much disney, DS9 adn DD7 have watched the old movies before and they are cute.

You two must be very young, (lucky You) unlike me who remembers going to the drive in to see one of the movies!! Way back when?

Next time your at Disney check out the AllStars expecially poor little Herbie.

Awwww, I didn't mean Herbie was bad:(, just that it's not one of the big hitters- I thought that some of the other movies appeal to a wider audience that's all. I'm sure there will be a lot of Mighty Ducks fans annoyed by my comments too, but trust me, my intention wasn't to 'down' those themes. I'm just puzzled as to why more mainstream movies weren't featured when they were designing the resorts.

MOF, I actually do remember Herbie and remember going to the theatre to see him (and loved the movies too!). I think my problem stems from the fact that I now have preschoolers of my own and I know they wouldn't get the same kick out of the love bug theming that they would get from, say a Peter Pan allstar with a pirate pool KWIM? Perhaps Disney is appealing to the babyboomers, having catered for the preschool crowd with the Toy Story buildings?

Peace!

I agree 123Joanna123,

When DD was 3 she was into the Toy STory movie so much. She would watch it 2 to 3 times a day. DS was so tired of the movie he actually hid it from her. She really liked buzz. If we would of went at that time we would of requested Toy Story building.

Maybe their next resort will have that type of theming to i t. It would be very cute.

Please don't get me wrong either, I knew you were not "downing the themes"

:D :D :D :D Have a good day.

I'll agree with you on the mighty ducks. But herbie the love bug was, and still is a popular character. The series of movies is still run on cable channels on a regular basis. Just my thoughts.... :p

Ditto. I am quite a Herbie fan myself! :D Nothing wrong with them at all, I just feel there are other themes/ movies that are more widely associated to the Disney name.

LOL! Im not offended at all, but we did stay in Mighty Ducks last year and have requested it again. Why? 1, We are a family of big hockey fans and we do enjoy the movie Mighty Ducks. DS, 6 is a big fan of the NHL team too(after the Bruins, they rate up there for me too). The theming is great for us. One of the cutest pictures from our last trip is my kids in net with Goofy. And 2, the location is great. You have your choice of going to the food court or bus stop at ASMU or ASMO, therefore you can get on a less crowded bus when going to the parks and get off a few minutes earlier when returning.
I do agree there are more popular movies that they could have used, but personally I like Mighty Ducks better than 101 Dalmations, Fantasia, and Love Bug. :D Im glad they have that especially since there isnt a hockey building in ASSP.

I also want to point out the synergy between SBU's, as Disney owns the Mighty Ducks Hockey Team.

Anne
