The last couple trips we have done a lot of character meals. This year we will still have BOG-lunch (not character), Crystal Palace, Chef Mickey, and Akershus.
This leaves us with 4 table service credits left. I am looking for restaurants with a fun theme the kids would also enjoy that is not a character meal. DH says he thinks we should take a year or two off from Disney after this So I want to get everything right
What would you suggest?

Sci Fi Dine In
Sanaa
Rainforest Café
T-Rex
Biergarten
Teppan Edo
Restaurant Marrakesh (check the menu, people complain that their kids don't like the food)
Skippers Canteen (check the menu, same reason)
Whispering Canyon Café
Trail's End
'Ohana
Raglan Road

We always enjoy the chef show at Teppan Edo and the food is consistently good.

San Angel Inn has a good theme but some people don't like the food.

Would like to try Biergarten but can't convince the rest of the family.

Biergarten for the band, San Angel to eat "outside," Prime Time for the antics, Sci-Fi for that outside feel again, though I think it's too dark, too cold, and with the seating and movie you can't really have a conversation, Coral Reef for the aquarium, and Teppan Edo for the show the chef puts on. For food my favorites out of those are Biergarten and Teppan Edo.

We loved our breakfast at Boma. If your kids are willing to try some food outside the norm, it was delicious (and I think they had some standard fare) and getting to visit AKL would certainly fit the theming bill! I have never been for dinner, but would definitely try it again, especially if you have a car to get to the resort easily, or plan it for breakfast/dinner on your AK day.

50s was also good for theming and food was pretty good, but I found Sci-Fi a little lacking and not my preference.

Oh my gosh there are soooo many to choose from! Here are some of my non character awesomely themed restaurants!

Sci Fi Dine In Theatre - In Hollywood Studios - the tables are set like cars and the whole theme is like a drive in movie that plays these old black and white monster movie type things. My kids LOVED this place!

50s Prime Time Cafe - Also in Hollywood Studios - Its themed around the 50s, so table manners are a thing, lol (no elbows on the tables and you must finish your plate before your desert!) I thought it was pretty funny, my older DS didn't think their should be "rules" when dining out at Disney, LOL

Whispering Canyon Cafe - In Wilderness Lodge - Can get very LOUD and has a ton of fun games that are played, lol...they only have like a couple bottles of ketchup so everytime you want ketchup the kids run around the place collecting ketchup and stuff, it was a ton of fun, we went there on our anniversary and they made my hubby sing to me, it was soooo funny. They do have coasters that you put on your table that says you want to play along or no you don't want to play along, but again it can get really LOUD.

TREX/Rainforest Cafe - Both places in Disney Springs w/ Rainforest also at Animal Kingdom. Food is generally the same, just whichever is your cup of tea...do your kids want to see Dinosaurs or Rainforest Animals (both places can get on the loud side too)

Teppen Edo - In Epcot - This is a disneyfied Hibachi place, I thought the food was pretty decent, but again it is disneyfied, so if you have been to a real hibachi grill you might be a little on the disappointed side. When we first ate there my oldest DS was disappointed, the next time we ate there my older DS actually requested it but again had no expectations, he basically was going because the food was pretty decent he though.

Biergarten - Also In Epcot - This is a fun place the theme is basically like a little town in germany and they have a band that comes out and plays as well. The only downside to this restaurant is, you are sat with other families, so it can be uncomfortable for some people. My older DS had a problem with this when we ate there, he didn't feel comfortable eating or talking in front of strangers. Me on the other hand could care less and striked up a conversation with everyone.

Coral Reef - Also In Epcot - Fun fish themed restaurant, it was fun watching all the fish as we were eating. Food was just ok though, nothing to rave about.

For themed places w/out characters:
Sci-Fi or 50s Prime Time at HS (my 3 kids prefer 50s Prime Time)
San Angel, Biergarten or Coral Reef at Epcot (my kids love Biergarten and Coral Reef)
Rainforest Cafe at AK (we haven't been to this one, but have been to the one at DS)
Sanaa, Whispering Canyon, Ohana (dinner), The Hoop Dee Do at resorts (my DS loves all of these but my picky twin DDs-17 aren't fond of Sanaa)
Raglan Road, T-Rex or Rainforest Cafe at DS (my kids love T-Rex and Rainforest Cafe)

We are big fans of Raglan Road - not only for the wonderful food, but for the fun atmosphere. If you are seated in the main room, there is a band and irish dancers and they even get the kids up on stage to dance.

We love Hoop Dee Doo - such a fun dinner show and is 2 TS credits on the DDP. Good food and fun atmosphere from start to finish.

Teppan Edo is great one, for the atmosphere and good food.

50's PT or Sci-fi are good choices but if I had to choose it would be Sci-fi, since our service at 50's in November was SO slow. Every aspect of the meal took forever, from the waitress coming over to greet us, to drinks, to the food and especially the check at the end lol. We also didn't really see any of the fun antics happening at all, not even at the other tables around us. Years ago it was so much fun. This may have just been an off night, but next time we would do Sci-fi again. Sci-fi is great for atmosphere, sitting in the to eat and it really feels like you are at a drive-in. Very cool!

O'hana. Either Spirit of Aloha or Hoop Dee Doo dinner shows. DD loves all of those, especially HDDR.

Hoop dee doo is amazing. That gets my first vote. It's a show but it's very entertaining!! Trails End, I've seen kids playing outside with the hula hoops and the adults chilling on rocking chairs. Ohana is great! Biergarten also, Rainforest cafe is great too!

Ohana dinner
Whispering Canyon Cafe
50s PTC
Biergarten
