Theme park parking with Annual Pass Question

DH and I are going in April while he has a work conference. I'm wondering how the free parking with an AP would work if we go to a park together in the morning (I have an AP he does not). When we arrive together I assume I can show my AP card and we won't be charged to park. However, what if he leaves with the rental car to go to a meeting and then returns later to the park to rejoin me? Will he have to pay to park when he returns later that same day if I'm still in the park or do they somehow recognize that we had already parked there earlier with my AP?

He will likely be charged on the way back in, since you do not normally get a receipt for AP free parking. Maybe discuss this with the parking CM at the booths and see if they can, in fact, give you a receipt?
Otherwise, are you staying on property? You get free parking at the parks if you are.

No we are not staying on property and I don't believe the place we're staying has regular transportation to/from the parks (it's his employer's choice so we can't change where we're staying). I was thinking he could Uber back and forth while I stay in the parks but that will probably end up costing the same as the parking.

I don’t have the numbers right now but if you pay the difference between regular and preferred on the first time in you get a hang tag for the whole day. It may be cheaper than full boat parking and if it’s not well you’d at least you would have preferred.

Preferred is either $45 or $50 depending on the day. I believe as an AP you would just pay the difference from the $25 standard parking fee, which is included with the AP.

So worst case scenario at the $50 price, if we pay for the preferred, it's the same as paying to park for standard when he returns but then at least we have preferred parking and if it's $45 we save $5 and still get preferred, sounds good to me. Thanks for the info!
