Our family only goes to WDW about every other year because we need the time to save to go to our favorite -- The Poly. It is our favorite because of the committment to theme -- from decor to little touches like personnel greeting you with "Alohas" and "Mahalos" and a pool with polynesian music playing in the underwater speakers. For us, it is part of the magic of staying on site. While we do make day trips to the beach (Jersey shore), we forego any other trip in an off-year in favor of saving for Disney.

Now we are trying to find a way to go every year. Unless we hit the lottery (no luck so far), a yearly trip to the Poly is out of the question. However, given the significant price difference, we could probably afford a Value resort every year, or maybe even a Moderate/Value Resort every other year.

I would like to know opinions on the best themed Value and Moderate resort and what more frequent WDW guests of them like the most. Room size is not the most important thing, although we do need to get a 2 queen or 1 queen and 2 smaller beds set-up.

TIA for all your opinions!

None of the mods/values have queen beds, that's the one drawback of the mods.

CSR is a great resort themed in a mexican/southwest theme! Best pool, food, and transportation! :thumbsup2 Check out my CSR website below.

I think you would probably enjoy CBR. It has a very tropical feel. With music playing as you walk to the food court area. They have hammocks in the sand for relaxing. We really enjoyed staying there.

The Family Suites at All Star Music have a QUeen size bed in the master bedroom area and a fold out sofa, fold out chair and fold out ottoman in the living area.

All Star Music is located between All Star Sports and All Star Movies.
The All Stars are all within easy walking distance of each other 5-10 minute walk or so.
When staying at the All Stars you can use any of the All Star pools. That means 3 main pools ,3 quiet pools and 3 kiddie pools to chose from.
If youstay at All Star Music you can enjoy the theming of all 3 All Stars.

All Star Music is my favorite Disney owned hotel.

Please see my info thread For the resons why I enjoy All Star Music so much.

Here is a little info on the Family Suites at All Star Music:

DH and I stayed in a Family Suite at All Star Music ( a value resort) last Sept. (2006)

We really enjoyed the Queen size bed, the kitchenette with the microwave, having a sofa and cushioned chair to sit on and relax after a day at the parks before retiring for the evening.

I thought the pullouts very comfortable.

They are designed so the back cushion and seat cushion of the pullout support the pullout. There is no meatle bar to hurt the sleepers back.

Info thread--Pullouts in Family Suites at ASMU with photos of how the pullout is supported.

Have fun at Disney wherever you choose to stay!:wizard:

My personal favorite is POR. I love the theme at this resort. I have stayed there twice in the past two years and both times I felt like I was miles away from WDW. It's so relaxing - you walk out the back of the main registration area and you feel like you are in a little port town with boats coming and going. There's also horse-drawn carriage rides in the evening. You walk over a little bridge towards the pool area and now you feel like you're in the middle of the bayou - no signs of the little town you just left. Then you can go right over the next bridge and you're in the middle of gorgeous plantations

We stayed at CBR this past December and found it just wasn't for us. It is VERY big, and although they do have shuttles running around the resort, it's not always fun to wait for them. The one thing I did like, however, was their food court. It's absolutely stunning - you feel like you are in a caribbean marketplace.

What kind of #s should we expect at the pools (themed) at All-Star Music vs., say CBR? What about buses? Are they about the same in terms of frequency and # of people in each?

Thanks again.

We did a Value in '06 (ASMo) and a Moderate in '07 (POFQ) and we will never return to a Value. We just can't justify the cost of the Deluxe in our minds so we will be staying in Mods unless we hit the jackpot. Which we don't play!

I've stayed at all level of resorts at WDW, for me POFQ wins hands down. It's small, has a fridge in the room, 2 sinks, a boat to DTD as well as a bus, and a hot tub. I don't like the values as they don't have 2 sinks or a hot tub. But because of size POFQ any building there is not far from anything. Plus, it has its own bus stop at MK in the evening. Oh, and beignets in the food court. The only place you can get them on property.

That said, have you thought about WL or AKL? They would have the queen size bed and bunk beds for the kids.

The numbers of guests in the pool depends on the season in which you go.
The themed pool at All Star Music is huge and can easily hold a lot of guests.

All Star Music has 1,576 rooms and 192 Family Suites for a total of 1,768 rooms.

CBR has a smaller themed pool. (Smaller than the Calypso pool at ASMU)

CBR has 2,112 rooms.

I have found the buses at the All Star Music usually run every 10-20 minutes.

Have fun at Disney!:wizard:

We stayed at ASMO once for a night and I remember feeling like there were kids everywhere. I was overwhelmed by the amount of families and kids. When we stayed at CBR it felt like more of a mix of families and couples. Not sure if it was just that one weekend (in November) or if it's because ASMO is more of affordable.

We liked CBR much better than ASMo. I was glad we paid the extra money to go mod last time. But, that being said, the value was not that bad. It is still Disney!:thumbsup2
