Them - So didn't you just go to Disney World???

Then I hope you follow up your sister's question with "The beach? Again?"
Not yet, but I've thought about it! She doesn't really understand Disney. She looked at me like I had 2 heads when I told her that I would totally want to go to Disney on a adults-only trip with just me and DH one of these days. She said that Disney is just for kids. My kids asked me once why I love it so much. I told them that at WDW and DL, even really old people like grandparents can be kids again. I told them that even if you don't believe that the princesses and characters are real, it's fun to pretend and to make believe. It's fun to be goofy and silly and act like a total dork. I mean, where else in the world can a grown man or woman wear an enormous traffic cone hat on his/her head (like they sell at Carsland in DL) and nobody looks twice at them? And at DL, oh boy, you should see all of the fancy Mickey ears that adults wear all the time!

I get "Oh, you were at Disney World? Is that the one with Harry Potter?" ALL THE TIME.
OMG. Makes me wonder if people have been living under a rock for like over 10 years since HP movies came out.

It's quite funny when I read reviews on sites and they refer to Fass Pass when talking about Express Pass and they post a review for WDW when it was really for Universal or when they say you must pay for the fast pass things to do anything at WDW but they really meant Universal.

I sit here wondering how they could confuse the two especially because at Universal they advertise their Express Pass everywhere. The parks are nothing alike. While I do go to Universal and Disney World while in Orlando, WDW is by far my favorite Universal just doesn't have the magic that WDW does.

I guess I'm glad that I have friends that also do annual Disney trips, so it's not much of a surprise when we say we're going back. We've converted and helped plan trips for a lot of people just because we want them to have a great time at a place we love to visit.

IMHO anything more than once a year is too often, and I personally wouldn't want to do more than every three years.

Edit: Unless you live within an hour or two driving distance. If I could get to WDW within an hour I'd have an annual pass and go once a month, obviously.

I'm a two hour flight. I've had annual passes three times, and when my kids were little, we went 3 times a year with them! We fly SW out of BWI, and often got such cheap fares!

The times I missed Disney happened when we lived on Oahu. That honestly was the only drawback (and we still went, when my DH was going to a conference, so we stayed at Shades of Green, but I was 3 months pregnant, and it was was so hot, so we didn't do any parks, boo hoo).

So, bah humbug I guess. To each his own. I love going.

I've posted a couple times on this already, but ironically this just came up again last night! We had dinner with another couple, and told them about our recent trip to WDW. "Just the two of you!?!???" But she hasn't been there since she was kid. Stayed down on I drive somewhere and went to MK a couple days. So, yea, in her mind it's a glorified Six Flags. The husband has never been there.

We went on to explain how we went to a different restaurant every day for lunch and dinner, and told them about some of them. DH went golfing at a world class course. Showed them pics of our resort. "WOW...THAT's Disney World???" By the end of dinner they were talking about trying it out some day.

That wasn't my intent. I stopped trying to "talk someone into WDW" many years ago. I was simply telling them about our trip, why we love it, etc. Even my DH chimed in on why he loves it. (And most of his reasons are very different than mine.) He doesn't wear the hats or get exited by the characters, etc. But he loves the resort, restaurants, how clean everything is, how friendly the CMs are, etc.

So, no, I will never say I went somewhere else or get defensive about going there. If a friend or family member is truly interested in knowing, I will tell them. If someone is snotty about it, I return the favor. All- inclusive in Cancun?? Ewwwww the 90s called, they're looking for their vacation.
