Their First Trip to the World

Our last day at the parks.

The rain was gone but the sun wasn’t exactly shining, long pants and sweatshirts for everyone. We had 8:10 ressies for a character breakfast at Liberty Tree Tavern in Magic Kingdom BEFORE the park opens. I recommend doing this to everyone. Walking down Main Street and around the castle without any crowd is a treat.

Liberty Tree Tavern usually does not do characters or breakfast but another restaurant that usually does (Crystal Palace) was under a 2 month renovation. Crystal Palace will be a must on our next trip. Anyway, breakfast was family style and yummy! Minnie, Pluto, Chip & Dale were there. The kids had come a long way with the characters thru the week but they (especially Lucy) still needed Bill or me next to them when a character was around.

After breakfast Jack and I were the first outside the restaurant and the park was just opening so there were only a few people around. Donald and Goofy were right there. Jack screamed “Donald” and pointed. He ran right over to him and stopped about 10’ away. Jack was waving so much I thought his arm might fall off. Donald squatted down and threw out his arms for a hug and Jack ran right into them. It is so dorky but I was so proud. Jack was just so excited. Magical. I didn’t have a camera and no one else saw it but it was perfect. Then Jack went over to Goofy. Everyone was around now so we got pictures of them ‘posing’ together.

The plan for today was to hit all our favorite rides again and that is what we did. We also spent some time in Toon Town which we hadn’t done yet. Oh and we finally met Pooh and friends. We saw them several times but never wanted to wait in line. We knew they showed up just outside Toon Town around 10am, so we were ready and waiting. We had a perfect last day doing everyone’s favorites.

We decided we wanted to see fireworks our last night so we left MK in the afternoon and went ‘home’ to rest a bit. We decided to skip Illuminations (in Epcot) because it was an hour later and we didn’t know how the kids would react to it. You need to be close to see the laser portion but then the fireworks would probably be too loud. So we decided just to do Wishes again. We grabbed dinner at a restaurant we weren’t crazy about in the Contemporary. Jack fell asleep on the bus ride there and was a grouch when we woke him up to eat. We ended up taking turns holding him while he slept or walking him around when he cried when he woke up. Felt like having an infant. Not a great last meal.

Then over to MK. My parents met us and Wishes was a good last note to the trip.

Time to go home. :( We had breakfast with my parents in the food court. They were staying in Florida (along the gulf coast) for another week. We packed. We cashed in all our tickets from the arcade. The kids loved picking out junk.

We caught our 1:55 flight and were at home by 5.

In hind sight Bill and I don’t know if the dining plan was worth it for us. In theory you save money using it but we are not the type of family that gets dessert for everyone at every meal and things like that. You pay the tip on every thing and that really added up. It also didn’t have enough counter service meals for us and we probably didn’t need that many table service meals. However if we didn’t get it I would probably freak about the costs of some of the meals. That is the one thing I may have to rethink ‘next’ trip.
