thefts at FW?

I'm wondering if anyone has had their camper broken into in FW. We always bring our laptop on vacation to send emails and pics home our family and friends. Usually we stay in a hotel and lock the laptop in the safe.

I suppose it is possible but I have never expirenced it. My family has been camping at FW since 1972 and we used to leave the key for the camper in the back bumper. Now we do lock our trailers, but more because we don't want anyone(the kids) to accidentally let the cats out.

I personally have never had a problem, and we have had a TV with an X-box in a tent!

We have never had a problem either. However this has been discussed before here, and others have had bad experiences. Due caution is always a good idea.

I've never had a problem tent camping at Ft. Wilderness with theft. However, I do lock the laptop up in a footlocker and lock the footlocker to a tree with a cable.

In your camper, I would get a laptop lock and lock it to something permanent in the camper.

FYI, the only theft I've read about on here is utility trailers parked out in the big parking lot up front. If you have one and want to park it out front, lock it to a tree, not just lock the hitch. Folks reported that somebody must have come into the big parking lot with a bigger trailer and just picked up the smaller trailers, loaded them on or in a bigger trailer, and hauled them off.

I have had 150 gallons of diesel stolen out of the transfer tank in the bed of the turck I was driving. We were staying with my inlaws in a cabin so I had to leave my truck in the parking lot with the golf-cart trailer.

My cousin's wife also had her purse stolen. She set it down on a picnic table able and sort of forgot about it.

Exercise the normal caution that you would anywhere else and you will be fine.

I am a firm believer in "crimes of oppurtunity" I just make my stuff a little more secure than the others and they generally leave mine alone.
Kind of like ... you dont have to be the fastest villager running from the lion, you just have to beat the slowest person

Locks only keep honest people out, if someone really wants your stuff its as good as gone.
