I know that theft occurs anywhere, but this is the first time I have seriously considered bringing our portable DVD player with us. It is going to be just my DS(6) and I and the plane ride will be almost 3 hours nonstop. Having recently traveled 20 hours in a car, I know how invaluable a DVD player can be. We will only use it for the roundtrip plane ride and now I am uncertain if I want to risk having it stolen from the room. Am I being too paranoid :earseek:

we always take ours and I honestly never worried about it, I just left it in the room and never had any problems.

If it doesn't fit in the safe, just lock it in your suitcase when you leave the room.

just dont be silly....keep you room organized and clean so that it is easy to see when an item is missing.

I kept my laptop and dvd player in my briefcase in a drawer with no issues.

The safe we had at WL was really tiny, you couldn't fit all that much in there, a small camera perhaps and your wallet. The AKL had a much more roomy safe. My DH usually takes his laptop, we put it away in the closet, and have never had any issues. I am always kind of hoping someone might relieve him of it, but no such luck. It's a work one by the way, he takes it along purely for work emergencies.

I always take my DD's laptop and we just put it in it's case and shove it in the closet. At least 20 trips and it's never been taken.

We left oyr DVD player on the table at the AKL everyday ... never had a problem! :sunny:

I have a small laptop (one of those tiny lightweight ones) that we brought to the CR. I locked it in the safe every day, never had a problem. I had to stand it up and lean it to get it into the safe, but it definitely fit. I even placed my pocketbook (also small) into the safe along with the laptop. Both fit with extra room in there.

We've taken ours the last two trips - sure did make the flight easier. It didn't even occur to me to lock in the safe or anything like that in the hotel room. I just put it away with the suitcases for the week.

I didn't remember the safes as being that big. Then again, portable dvd players are pretty thin and I guess I can just set it upright as mentioned. Thanks for all the great responses. I try not to be overly suspicious, but unfortunately in today's day and time, you just can't trust everyone . . . except for great dis'ers. :teeth:

We took ours the two times we've been to WDW. Trust me, it helped us as we went through our lovely 14 hour car ride.

But it never got stolen, we had no problems at all.

You can always put it in a drawer and have cloths over it. Generally there are all sorts of items left out in hotel rooms and no one has a problem. I wouldn't worry too much about it and have fun while you are in the parks.
