I just called and talked to the Dining Coordinator. And booked it. March 4th. Thanks for all the info about the package.
Do you have a # for the dining coordinator? I haven't been called yet and since I am leaving for FLA the week before my cruise, I'm concerned I may miss the call (no docs yet either!!)
Thanks, Laurie

Ditto - I got stalled with DCL regarding the Dining Room Coordinator!

Thanks!
Rae

I don't have her number directly. I called TA(Travelocity) first and the directed me to call DCL. I just called the nice people at the Reservations line, and the Dining Coordinator (Debbie) called me back. She was sweet as can be. I did ask the girl at the reservation desk to have her call me asap so I could book since my cruise was on March 4. Otherwise no problems, they called me at work, because I didn't want DW to know about it.

Were you also able to get your selection of rotation dining? And Spa reservations? Just curious!!!

Rae

Yeah, Debbie put it all together for me. Although the only dining she set up was for Palo's.

I think Debbie must be very busy today.
I just got off of the phone with her and she did our Palo dinner, brunch and tea as well as our spa ressies.
We are travelling with another couple and they were allowed to come with us for the brunch and tea also.
We were given our choice of dining rotations. I was very impressed with her professionalism and friendliness. She is a definite asset, and good ambassador for Disney.

Cheers,
Grumbo

This just keeps getting better and better! How does this work? You just bring the bottle with you and explain where it came from? Also, I wonder how it is handled if the Palo reservation is on the early side. Getting the Korbel before you go to dinner. Am I obsessing too much?????

Thanks everyone for your help and patience!

The Korbel is waiting for you when you walk into your stateroom, so that's not a problem (see my photos of the basket earlier in this thread)! And you get to bring it and not pay the corking fee because you "bought" it on board. :)

Enjoy!

Grumbo, did you have to call Debbie or did she call you? I'm getting mixed info. about how far out to expect the call. If it's too close to our 3/20 cruise, I'm afraid I won't be here, leaving early for a pre-vacation in FLA.

Thanks!
Laurie:sunny:

Also for those of you who have done this, have you sat with your kids and then gone to Palo (early seating) or leave them in the clubs to eat? I'm so worried about getting my phone call and I still have no idea what I'm going to say when I finally do. LOL!

Thank you so very much for so much detail and the wonderful pictures! I booked the REAS package for our Aug 14th Cruise before I saw your thread and now I'm so glad you took the time to share your experience with us.

I've given my DU agent our requests (a long way away but I've learned about planning from this board!) and am so looking forward to not having to do the "Ressie 500" (copywrite Rae519!) when we get on board!

I'm looking forward to everything about the REAS - love having a gift basket, dinner/brunch in Palo, massage, rose petals - but cant help but dwell on the Champagne Breakfast! Even now dreaming of sitting on the verandah with me, DH and DD (tight squeeze I know!) and a glass of champagne while we dock at Castaway Cay!

Oh, is it Aug 14th yet?!?!?!

You are personally invited to the 2005 Andy and Rae 50th Birthday cruise for that one!!!

Thanks but you must bring our British friends along with you! Can't have a party without Karen and Mark and Matthew and Corinna!!!!

I haven't called her yet about the reservations, I'll give it a little time since others need to get theirs in sooner!!!

Hugs,
Rae

How old are your kids? We chose Weds night, and there was ALOT going on...so we were all set in terms of keeping them busy - and they had the choice of club for dinner, dinner with just our servers, or room service - after a day on the FUry Catamaran, they chose the latter and that worked great, I knew they were fed and happy before we went!! :)

I hadn't heard from Disney so I spoke with reservations this morning and she turned me over to a supervisor. I relayed the same situation to her as you describe. I am driving down and will be leaving early and want this out of the way. She was VERY nice and took all the info. She promised me that Debbie would call today and IF she was unable to get her to, she would call me to advise what occurred. Needless to say Debbie called me at work as I didn't want my wife knowing as this is a surprise for her.
I was told 10 days by my TA, Disney told me 30 days out, but I booked only a week ago so that kind of screwed up the 30 day scenario. I think this programme is taking off and I can see it being tweaked (meaning they'll cut some items or charge more :) ) in the future but they seem to be ironing some logistics out of it.
Hopefully you'll get to speak to them soon. Call the 1-800 number and speak with them. That is what I did and as long as you're not miserable or in their face they seem to be happy to assist.

Cheers,
Grumbo

Well my kids were just like The4OfUs kids. Given the choice they prefer to call room service and hang out in the stateroom the night of our Palo's dinner. Also if you take the bottle of Korbel to Palo's they are more than happy to swap it for a cold one since they stock it. Just ask the Maitre'd when you arrive with bottle in hand. I forgot his name but he was most helpful.

Thanks all of you for being so responsive. I'm with you Rae, trying to avoid calling until I really have to to give those cruising sooner their chance, but I will have to eventually so as not to miss their call after we leave for FLA. As far as what to do with the kids, they are 4, 6, 9, & 11. The 11 is
responsible enough to care for anyone else's kids, but for his own siblings.....so I'm not sure about dining with the server or
room service.
So far I've heard Tues. and Weds. are good nights to go because of things happening in the clubs. Anyone have a favorite time to dine at Palo's (sunsets, etc...)

Thanks
Laurie

We went to Palo's on the 4th night after one rotation of the restaurants. Since we started with Animator's Palate, which is great the first time with the show, the second time is OK to miss and then we come back on the last night.

Thanks for all the information everyone!! I just booked this with my TA for our cruise in October. I was hesitating because DH doesn't want to do the massage, but that looks like it shouldn't be a problem. Two for me:teeth: .

I have two questions, when my TA called Disney, she was told that only the Palo dinner could be booked, not the brunch. She called three different times and got the same response. When she calls back to make the ressies, is it the dining coordinator that will allow her to book the dinner and the brunch?

Also, should I make the ressie for the couples massage, then change it once on board to one massage for that time and book a new one for my second?

Thanks again!:teeth:

Cindy

The package covers Palo dinner and so their policy is limited to making that reservation. However as a courtesy the dining coordinator can extend that to Tea and Brunch. As for the spa treatments you may be able to get two separate appointments if you want. Best to ask and see if they can be flexible. Definitely book before hand and change later if needed.

michael

Again, the discrepancies lie - some get this, others get that.

For $299 - they could do the brunch and High Tea, and rotation dining changes just as part of the package.

Yes, it is a courtesy but for the money we pay for the cruise and the REAS, it should be part of the deal.
