wow... just wow. your POST is amazing. way to completely generalize and overstretch the situation.

plus, even under your incredible argument>>
take into account how long MS has been open. if someone is going to die on the ride once every couple years, is that an acceptable risk? would you ride it ever again if you knew that was a fact? i sure wouldn't take the chance that i'd be that person.

don't really even know what else to say to that post...

I think the point is. *DID* the child die because of the ride? or some medical problem in the child? with so many many millions riding all those rides, there has to be a certain degree of probability that when its YOUR time to go, you will go wherever you are,, be it on a ride, walking to your car, in your kitchen, wherever. the ride has not been proven to be the cause of the childs death.
now IF someone dies because a ride caused it, that is a whole different story. and even then, what were the circumstances. then IF disney or whatever found it was negligence on the part of the 'person that died' and decide to keep the ride open, without any adjustments, that would be YOURs, mine & every other rider to choose what they would do. (cars are a heck of a lot more proven killers than a disney ride, but we get in them every day.......)
locally here a yr or 2 ago, there was a boy who was electricuted when touching a ride... the ride was since fixed. so does that mean that no one should ever get on this ride again?

My point, (which I think you totally missed) was not to generalize or be-little that which happened. My point is that life itself is a risk. People are going to die riding amusement rides, but rest assured that these rides are designed to be a safe as possible, or Disney wouldn't last long in this business.

People engage in far riskier behavior on a daily basis which they take for granted. One death out of who knows how many times this ride had been run is far below every day activities you do find acceptable. I find it ironic that people will get so worked up about something like this, yet not worry about using to much salt, not getting enough exercise, drinking excessive alcohol, or smoking 2 packs of cigarettes per day. These behaviors have a much, much higher probability of killing you than this ride does. If you feel riding this ride is just to risky, thats fine, we all have a limit to what we consider acceptable. But Im willing to wager, that this year more people die sitting in lazyboys in front of their TV's than die on this ride.
Again, its about putting things in perspective.

not sure where you are from but if you are in NE Ohio that instance was from negligence on the carnival ride owner and operator as it was not properly grounded. so in that case if they are still even in operation( think some went to jail) i sure wouldn't ride anything they installed but that was proven...this with Disney is pure conjecture

I'm a control freak and if I can't control the ride, I want no part of it.

That's exactly what my DH says about the rides. He will do all sorts of activities like skiing because he is controlling what he does but hates the bigger rides.

Whatever happened to this poor child my heart goes out to his family.

This is not a helpful trip planning thread, so I'm going to close it now.
