Does anyone here sponser a child or support a hope child through World Vision?
Does anyone know what the reputation of this organization is?

There are so many ways to help children here in our country and around the world. Hunter and I are looking for ways to help a child (our personal choice for this time would in Africa because of a project Hunter did about Africa that touched us beyond belief as we learned so much about Kenya).

Thanks for any info. :goodvibes

We sponsor a child through World Vision, and so does my BIL family. They seem very reputable, and my daughter loves getting the letters from our foster child. We just got an update letter, with a new photo, earlier this week.

We sponser a girl in Mexico through World Vision and there are 15 or so other children sponsered by other members of our church. World Vision has their office in Federal Way Washington, a few miles away, and we think it is a great organization. Very little of what is donated goes to Admin and overhead, most goes to the children or other programs.

I know a girl in one of my ds class whose dad used to be a big director in this organization. It is very reputable. This girl takes at least 3 mission trips a year to an orphanage in central america. She says I have to go to my orphanage and see "my kids". Very touching. I told ds he might want to look into contributing something, maybe going with them etc.

I have known some folks who worked in the organization. As others have said, I think it is very reputable and well intentioned. Like many voluntary agencies, they at times get a bit overweighted towards administrative costs, but I think they try very hard not to do so. I'm pretty sure at this point the child sponsorship program is a well oiled machine and most of your dollar is passed directly to benefit the child. I support WV without hesitation.

We are big WV supporters. We sponsor 3 children, but actually give more each month to their other "general" type funds ( rescue girls from sex trade, clean water, children with disabilities etc). Every year at Christamas i donate a couple of Goats in other people's honor (including my boss). There a certified by the stringest oversight organization.

I haven't sponsored a child thru that organization but if you are looking for an amazing organization that supports fighting poverty around the world (including US), look up www.heifer.org , this is a "pass it on" style of charity that gives farm animals to people and teaches them to raise and breed them, then pass on to another villager. Take a look, its worth your time.

World Vision is a great organization. They have been active for many years and have an excellent reputation. We sponsered a little girl from Mexico for ten years or so and exchanged letters and photos. You can choose a boy or girl from anywhere in the world to help. We had a great experience through them, and I can offer my highest recommendation! Best Wishes. :)

World Vision is very reputable and has been around for quite awhile. The senior pastor at my church was one of the executive board members for quite awhile. I think he still is. Best wishes to you.
