I'll never forget when the Buckingham Palace Band played our National Anthem. That brought me to tears.

I'm sorry, but the thread title should be "some of the world mourned with us".
i recall very clearly that there was dancing in the streets of gaza and the west bank. people were laughing with glee and passing out candy.

let's be honest about all of this. those who mourned with us mainly stoppped doing so when we took action against the enemy. there was no "shared grief dividend". in the world, we are mainly alone with only several true allies worthy of the name.

much of the arab world never mourned our losses and were delighted at our pain. and let's be very honest, they will do this again and worse if we are not vigilant and prevent them from doing so.

I remember traveling to Toronto, Canada about 2 weeks after 9/11/01. The Detroit/Canada border was heavily patroled both coming & going. When we got up into Canada we were greeted with Canadian flags flying at half staff. The fast food restaurants we ate at all had messages of "God Bless the USA" & "United We Stand" written on the walls & windows. Newspaper clippings were taped up for all to see. It brought tears to our eyes and pride in our hearts.

It is amazing how it took something like that to bring everyone together.I remeber the days after and remember how nice everyone was and how well everyone got along with each other,no one beeped in traffic here in nyc..Too bad it can't be like that forever.
