Hi,

My name is Steve and my Wife is Laura. This will be our 6th Disney Cruise and we're finally cruising as Gold Castaway Club members! So, naturally, I'm hoping to score Palo's for Valentines Day Dinner. We have 2 children DS (10) and DD (7) at time of cruising. We'll also be cruising with my inlaws and I scored us the coveted sideways 11 cabins on this cruise.

My wife and I have not done a Mexican Riviera Cruise since 1994 when we met on a Mexican Cruise. So this is pretty exciting for us.

Can't wait to meet you'all

We are myself (37), DH (38) and DS (7) well turning seven on this cruise!!!:thumbsup2 This will be our 3rd cruise and we are very excited about the ports on this cruise.

We love Disney cruises :lovestruc!!!

We too hope to get a Palo ressie on V-day since my hubby and I never do anything on that day otherwise!!!:worship:

Welcome Aboard! I'm not a big Mexican Riviera fan but it was a pretty inexpensive cruise for us since we need not pay airfare.

Since I booked I've been looking into the excursions and there will be quite a few that we will be doing so it's good that we saved money on the cruise because we'll be spending it on excursions.

Palo for Valentines would be cool. My wife might really like that. I'm actually looking forward to a Palo Brunch. Since everything I see is pretty dismal about securing a reservation to Palo on the Dream I expect to miss it on my next two cruises.

yes i see you are going on a b2b on the dream in october!!! how fun!!!:thumbsup2 let me know how it goes. we originally had a b2b for november scheduled but I moved it to this 7 day b/c yes...it was cheap and we just moved to the west coast...wa. in december of 2012 we are scheduled for a 7 day eastern that we are very much looking forward to. :cool1:

we have done both palo dinner and brunch. myself and my dh love palo brunch the best. so i will be trying to secure that for us and then a palo v-day dinner. my son's 7th birthday is on the 15th. i am hoping they do something special for his b-day at dinner. :wizard:

so do you happen to know what night fireworks will be on??? also do you happen to know when they would cancel any of our mexico ports. I am don't want them to but i am worried this may happen and i don't want to go to cabo twice like they are doing this year.

haven't looked at excursions yet but will soon. anything that stands out to you???

hopefully more people chime in our meets board. not sure how full the ship is but i suspect it is pretty open since the price is still low.

I'll be happy to share my experiences with you on the B2B. I was supposed to be on the Magic this October but my company made some last minute changes and I had to cancel my plans. I decided that I'd like to try the new ship and went with the Dream.

I'm debating on the next cruise that we do. I'm torn between a ship that we know and love (The Wonder) with a new itinerary (Alaska) or a Brand New Ship (Fantasy) with an old itinerary that we know and love (Eastern) Decisions...Decisions.

Being on the West Coast gives you a great opportunity to score these hard to get reservations (Like Palo) While the East coast ppl have to stay up until midnight to book, west coasters merely log on at 9pm the night before. You're gonna love that. I'm a bit bummed because when my booking window opens for this cruise (105 days out for me on the MR cruise) I'll be in WDW staying up until Midnight

Pirate Night is supposed to be on the Thursday night of the Cruise. (Day 5) Cabo San Lucas night. As far as the port cancellations go... I'll be willing to go with the flow on this one. I've heard a rumor that Disney is looking into a new port for the Wonder. It's called Guaymas and it's located in the Gulf of California. This port is large enough and it is located near a very nice set of beaches called San Carlos. If the source I had is right, Disney is planning to test this port early 2012. So, there's a possibility that we may end up there.

Excursion Plans:

If we end up with an Ensenada stop. I'm not getting off. I hate this port. The only thing that may get me to leave the Wonder is if the smell of the sewage they dump into the ocean is too strong to lounge by the pool. And even then I may decide to see a bunch of movies rather than step onto that horrid port. (posting edited so as to not offend anyone too much.)

Cabo San Lucas:
Sport Fishing with my Father-In-Law. He loves fishing. I think it may be fun. I'll probably send everyone else to a resort pool getaway.

Puerto Vallarta:
Definately doing the Canopy Adventure. I've seen some great stuff on YouTube and TV about this and I'm all in. I'll send the in-laws and my youngest to a dolphin encounter. (She's pleased as punch about that!)

Mazatlan:
If this stop isn't cancelled, then I'm not sure what I'll do there. Nothing is real exciting to me. Probably a Beach Getaway or the All-Inclusive Beach Resort if I haven't already blown my budget.

I'm really bummed that none of the stops has any archeological excursions. To me, that's the real draw to Mexico. I don't like too much else. But those ruins fascinate me to no end.

I think that people are wanting to see what Disney plans on doing with the MR cruises before they commit. I believe that it is probably causing a great degree of concern to the DCL executives as to what exactly to do with the Wonder. Alaska is a moneymaker but MR cruises historically have not done well. Most lines place their cruddiest ships on that route. I'd like to see a Catalina day added (I proposed to my wife there and it is sentimental to me) and a San Diego day. Then a Puerto Vallarta day. That'd be fun for me. But I dare say I'd also be in the vast minority. But I think that if the MR cruise gets jacked up too much by all the fussing, I'll pull up stakes and rebook an Alaskan.

Hopefully others will join our small thread soon. I really love getting to know people before a cruise.

Hi Everyone ! We will be joining you on this cruise. DH, DS (5) and myself. We've been on DCL line before and loved it but this will be our son's first cruise.

We had another MR cruise for late Feb. but just found out it will clash with a buiness trip DH has to be on so, so we moved our cruise up to this one.

We are looking forward to celebrating Valentines Day on the ship. I'm betting they change formal night to Valentines Day.

Vicki

Glad to have you. You can see my intro post in the first posting. I'm Steve. We're sailing with my in-laws and my brothers family. I think you have a wonderful idea with the formal night on Valentines. Palo is going to be a hot commodity for that night!

I WAS NOT SUPPOSED to come back so early after our Dream cruise in May...
But I got the bug... :confused3:goodvibes:lmao:
So I just booked :woohoo::dance3::woohoo: a Bday Cruise pixiedust::cake:pixiedust:

:tinker:Poussière de fée

why did you pay so early? Any incentive? On our first trip, we paid "on time" but some people on the Thread paid before. When I asked my then TA, she said there was no reason to pay early. Do you have one to share? I have the money in the bank. I don't think I would be loosing a lot of interest if I paid early. But I would like to know why I would do so. I also already have another cruise booked as a bounce back (to be postponed in 2013), so it may be interresting for us.

Thanks for your posting, there is not a lot of movement on the thread yet,

:tinker:Poussière de fée!

No real incentive to paying off early. Just that money sitting around tends to be spent. I'll never take another vacation that is not paid off prior to going. Once one vacation is paid off I start on the next. It's my way of making sure that we don't go into debt for a vacation. Also, since I'll be gold, I'll need to pay off this cruise at 105 days to make my reservations. That's around a 60 days away. I'd be lucky to make $2 in interest between now and then on that money at the rate that's being paid right now.

My next vacation will probably be 9 days in Hawaii. With 3 of those at the Aulani.

Yep, Laura got the call today.

If you like Mexican nightlife this is probably a good thing since you'll not need to be onboard at any particular time.

I'm planning to get Palo that evening. I think it'll be fun eating at Palo with the lights of the city nearby.

I've heard some complain that when spending two days in Cabo that it is more like one and a half days because the ship has to leave early the second day to make it home in time. No biggie for me. I'm really going for the ship anyway.

Got the email today as well. I had a STRONG feeling this would happen.
