The Wish Today

Did they get in? We were on a Wish cruise in January that was worse than that - Captain aborted the entry and we ended up with a sea day (which was fine with us).

It does give you a whole new appreciation for the captain and his skill and his nerves of steel. Course, I'm sure he's done it a time or two. Also appreciation for the pilots/pilot boats. You can see why they're really necessary.

I was on this sailing! The night sailing out of Port Canaveral was pretty wild. Roughest cruise I've ever experienced.
What night were you sailing? We stay right on the ocean in Cocoa Beach and I watch the Disney ships (I'm always especially excited to see the WISH) literally go by our windows. What a lovely ship. We just got home after 3 months and I miss the ships in port and going by our window very much.

I have not sailed in many, many years so this is probably a dumb question but if the weather is bad when the ship lands in, say, Nassau like the one in the video, does everyone have to stay on board until the weather clears? Even if for several days?

We just got Disney+ and watched The Making of the WISH. A totally fascinating behind the scenes.

If the weather is that bad, they probably wouldn't dock in the first place. Especially if it could/would mean having to stay at that port for several days. If the ship docks, then most likely people will be able to get off.

Yes, loved the making of the Wish documentary!

I have heard of one time that a ship got stuck overnight in Castaway Cay because the weather/currents prevented them getting out safely. However, nobody was allowed on shore during that time.

That happened to me in St Petersburg on NCL. The wind was too bad for us to leave safely so we sat in port overnight.

Our first ever cruise was on the Fantasy. We were late leaving and it was raining. That night in the theater you could see the curtains swaying at least 6-8 feet. I wonder what the roll of our ship would have looked like that night.
