Have you guys seen this movie advertised??? It seems like a direct copy of Madagascar---what's the deal, Disney? Why can't they come up with something original?

That's exactly what I thought when I first saw the preview. Actually, for a few seconds I thought it was Madagascar 2. :confused3

I also thought that same thing. Even the animals look the same!!

Oh well, I'm sure I'll still go see it. My dd loves Madagascar. :teeth:

It does look like a Madagascar copy but my kids actually want to see it (getting to be a rarity among children's movies) so we will probably go.

I'm going to see it...

but just because Kiefer Sutherland is the voice of the lion :teeth:

Ditto. Which means I won't go, because I thought Madagascar was BORING.

I think it's Madagascar in reverse--instead of zoo animals released into the wild, it's wild animals brought to a zoo. We'll see it; my kids love Madagascar & it is Disney. I'm guessing it's one of those movies that were in competition, but Madagascar was released first. Disney probably held on to it, so not to compete at the theaters since Madagascar was such a huge hit there. Now they'll get all those kids who are basically going to watch it since it is so much like Madagascar.

I was floored by how similar they seemed. Very odd. I took my nieces to Madagascar though and we liked it, so we'll probably see this one too.

My kids are Madagascar fans. We also thought it was Madagascar 2 when we first saw the ads. It takes a long time to make a movie, so this was probably in production before Madagascar was released.

We'll probably see the movie since my kids want to, and I'm interested in seeing it, also. I hope it's better than Valiant.

Speaking of Madagascar, every time I am behind a slow driver, my kids sing, "I like to move it, move it! I like to move it, move it.........!" That song can stick in my head for days on end. The only cure is Live 365. :lmao:

I did a bit of snooping. Originally Disney was going to release this movie in early 2005 and it was to be called "Wild Life." Did they hold onto it because Madagascar came out around that time??

Ditto here - to both thinking it was Madagascar 2 and DS singing that song!

I' don't know and I guess they can't scrap it if they are that far into it---but I'm irritated that they can't come up with original ideas sometimes. It's like Nemo and Shark Tales--which came first??? Monsters, Inc. is one of our very favorites as is Emporer's New Groove--talk about creative and original!! Pixar gets the credit, though!! Love those. That said, I am sure we will see it too.

This movie was supposed to come out a while back. As usual, Dreamworks (or whoever made Madagascar) got wind of it and rushed to make a movie JUST LIKE IT to make Disney look bad. THEY are the ones without the original ideas.

It does look like Madagascar. But, Madagascar didn't have Jim Belushi playing a squirretl. ;)

My kids have finally stopped singing it. Thank God. Madagascar was pretty cute.

Competing films with very similar topics is, at this point, totally unavoidable. Too many people reporting every project that is just getting started in production. Rather than avoid similar topics they actually are sure to have something going so they can ride it out if things go well. In this case Madagascar did well enough and I bet The Wild does as well.

"Ice Age Two", "The Wild", "Over the Hedge", "Charlotte's Web"...and I haven't even checked out a coming events site..... :sunny:
