I have a question...you know the whole 3 items that are liquid in a see through bag for your carry on rule?
Would toothpaste be considered liquid? It kinda is....

TIA

This is from the TSA website. It's called "3-1-1". Check the TSA website for more details.

Air travelers may now carry liquids, gels and aerosols in their carry-on bag when going through security checkpoints.

With certain exceptions for prescription and over-the-counter medicines, baby formula, breast milk, and juice, and other essential liquids, gels, and aerosols, the following rules apply to all liquids, gels, and aerosols you want to carry through a security checkpoint.

3 All liquids, gels and aerosols must be in three-ounce or smaller containers. Larger containers that are half-full or toothpaste tubes rolled up are not allowed. Each container must be three ounces or smaller.

1 All liquids, gels and aerosols must be placed in a single, quart-size, zip-top, clear plastic bag. Gallon size bags or bags that are not zip-top such as fold-over sandwich bags are not allowed. Each traveler can use only one, quart-size, zip-top, clear plastic bag.

1 Each traveler must remove their quart-sized plastic, zip-top bag from their carry-on and place it in a bin or on the conveyor belt for X-ray screening. X-raying separately will allow TSA security officers to more easily examine the declared items.

It's not 3 items, it's just that liquid items can't be more than 3.4 ounces each, and all must fit in one zippered quart size plastic bag in order to put them in a carry-on. I don't believe there are any restrictions for checked bags.

It does include toothpaste

Remember that the actual original container size cannot exceed 3.4oz...in other words, you can't take a 5oz tube of toothpaste that's only half-full and expect it to be OK because there's only 2.5oz inside.

And if you can cram 10 little containers in a quart size ziploc bag and get it to seal up, that's fine too. :goodvibes

All the items that are exceptions to the 3.4oz rule (medications, formula, etc) do not go in the same one quart ziploc bag. Make sure to specifically point out these items to the TSA agent separately from your 3-3-1 bag.
