Happy Halloween!

Sitting out front giving out candy,, it's freezing!

Dinner tonight was Panera, turkey panini, chips and brocolli cheddar soup. Dessert is candy!;):happytv:

This is me being jealous of your Panera. :rolleyes1

Hi Everyone - I'm very far behind since I took another 3-4 hour nap this morning after Fran's infusion. I definitely feel better. She is feeling somewhat better as today she actually suggested that we order lunch from take out and that she wanted a salad and a Hoagie style sandwich. However, I am not sure that she is improving much and with the 30 window of cancellation coming up for our DVC am considering being prudent rather than stupid. They gave us a one time pass with the points going into holding, so perhaps it might be better to take the points now while they will still be points.

:hug: I know it's a difficult decision, and I'm not gonna tell you what to do. Just wanted to say we're thinking of you.

My dinner!

Thanks Aimee!!! :love:

YUMMY!

I've been trying to pack a little bit along the way so I'm not snowed under with all of the packing on Friday. (we leave Sat.) I'm hoping to get our clothes packed today. I may sneak off and go back to bed here in a little while so I can get some energy, I don't know. I HATE doing that, but I really want to be in prime shape for WDW.

I hope everyone had a great Halloween! We had no ToTers, except Amanda and Kevin brought the kids by. LOL, I was a little annoyed. I'd jumped in the shower after dinner (I like to shower at night sometimes, especially when I am under the weather) and was sitting in my chair packing with nothing on but a pajama top and a towel underneath me. (After I shower, I sometimes doodle for a few minutes to let my hair dry a few minutes, then go put on pajamas and dry my hair) I saw a person out of the corner of my eye coming up on our deck so I high-tailed it to the bedroom to put on some clothes. I heard the kids jabbering and realized who it was. I texted Amanda that I was getting dressed, and to hang on. Ryan wouldn't stop banging on the door. Ack! I don't think he would want Aunt Kitty to answer the door half-naked, lol.

Amanda realized she hadn't called or texted they were coming. She knows I run around the house like that sometimes and like a few minutes notice. I was really embarrassed, but no need to be. No one saw anything :laughing: I'm kind of a stickler on that, so it kind of but a jump in my evening.

I hope everyone has a great day!

ETA: I am so sorry this was so long!

I hope you go back to bed. Don't think of it as sneaking a nap. Think of it as preparation for Disney! :teeth:

You poor thing last night. :headache: But it's nice that you have a good sense of humor about it!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I'm up! I'm up! I don't want to be!
I have my training today. But I'd rather be in bed.
I get up before everyone else to have a few minutes alone. Just knowing others are sleeping makes me jealous. :lmao:
Tonight's dinner is a new recipe for beef and broccoli lo mein. I'll post the recipe and a review later!
:hug: Y'all have a good day!
Alison – Glad to hear Fran is feeling better. That’s a tough call on the vacation.:hug:
Janice - I MISS you!!!!!!!
WFD - Robin's creamy ranch chicken, noodles and green beans.
Hope everyone has a great day!
Kat I miss you too :hug:
This lack of computer at home is putting a damper on my FB and DIS time :rolleyes1 but my house is clean :snooty: no excuse not to clean.
Last night we had spaghetti and sausage. Not sure on tonight yet.
Good Morning! Quick fly by to say hi!
We had a nice time trick or treating even though it rained. We decided to have some neighbors over afterwards for dinner. I made chicken with ditalini (sp) soup, meatball and sausage heros, salad and some store bought desserts. Everyone raved about my food! the soup came out great as did the sauce with meat. It was the first time I cooked sauce in the crock pot and it was wonderful!
OK, better get things going here. I really need to get back to the gym. Ive taken a couple weeks off and out of the habit now. :headache: My neighbor is going today and he was talking all night about me running 2 miles with him. Yeah, easier for him since he is in top Navy shape!
Dinner tonight is left overs. It is just me and the kids. Tom goes away for business today.
Have a great day all! I hope to BBL to catch up.
Good morning!
Nancy, ugh, I am sorry you are stuck without power!! I hope it comes back soon. This storm was so bad in some areas. My inlaws got 2.5 feet of snow!
Ellen, congratulations on the trip! That is so nice of the church to reward you that way. It must feel great to know you are so vlued.
Glynis, I am glad you are finally getting a furnace!
Allison, I am glad Fran is feeling a little better at least. Tough call on the trip. On the one hand it's a whole month away, but I can see why you are concerned.
PIO, nice adaptation of Aimee's lasagna! I think I need to make lasagna this weekend.
WFD: a recipe for jalepeno chicken I found on the tasty kitchen blog, with some roasted beets, crispy potatoes, and sauteed greens.
Morning, all! What a difference a few hours can make!! Last evening, when we went trick or treating, it was warm enough for light jackets, worn under the costumes. However, at about 3 this morning, it began to rain, and has been raining since. It's snowing in the mountains, and the forecast is that we should have a couple of inches on the valley floors in the next couple of hours. Wow! I know a lot of you are still digging out from your surprise storm, and it looks like we are about to join you! Luckily, we got our furnace just in time!!!
Dinner tonight will be quesadillas. Fast, easy, and cheap! I have Scouts this afternoon, so I need something that doesn't take too much prep work!
Allison - I have no advice on the trip. Just know that I'm praying and sending out good thoughts your way!
Lindsay - I hope you get to feeling 100 percent before your trip! Sorry to laugh about your evening last night, but I've been caught like that a lot!
Have a great November 1st, everyone!
For dinner tonight, I made Aimee's Spinach, Mushroom and Pesto lasagna.
Yours looks delicious! I'm glad you made it and liked it.
Ugh, morning, everyone :coffee:
I have been feeling great and am getting much more of my voice back. Only I went to bed last night and couldn't stop coughing. I finally gave up and got up around 11. I went back to bed around midnight and managed to get some rest. I felt so bad keeping Scott awake. Grrr, I haven't been coughing until I lay down so this was frustrating. More frustrating is that I have a prescription cough medicine. Apparently it didn't do what it was supposed to last night. Thanks for all the well-wishes. I love you guys :love:
Have you tried sleeping in a recliner, so your head is up further? Sometimes I have to sleep in the living room when I get a bad cough like that.
Take a nap!! Your body needs one!
We've had a public holiday today in Melbourne. It was the running of the Melbourne Cup (horse race). The horses race over 2 miles and it is pretty much over within three and the half minutes. But the whole city gets a public holiday for the entire day. About 100K people end up going to the racecourse and it is entirely about who's who and fashion! This year's special guests included Sarah Jessica Parker.
I'm back at work tomorrow....so I'll catch up during night shift, your time.
Enjoy your holiday!!
DH is totally slacking on the dishes and since he still hasn't cleaned the crockpot, my meal choice for tonight is a no-go. So, we'll eat out.
This is me being jealous of your Panera.
It was very yummy!:cloud9: The sandwich is new, turkey and artichoke.
Made chicken strips and tater tots for dinner. I was going to make something with shrimp but I didn't have any in the freezer. :headache:
Evening all!
It's Wednesday night here and dinner was at mum's. We had beef curry, tofu and vegetables stirfry, a fish dish and some broth/soup.
It was SiL's birthday last week so we had cake after dinner. Now I wish I hadn't eaten the cake! I seriously need to lose some weight.
I backed some horses yesterday and somehow managed to back the winner, second place and fourth (no money for 4th place). By the time the race was over, I was net $55 richer! That's all going into my 2013 Disney fund.....lots more savings ahead of me. :laughing:
Hope you're all keeping warm and I'll try and visit tomorrow.
Hold on to your coffee cup ladies! I am BAAACK! :dance3::banana::banana:
My computer is working :woohoo::woohoo::yay:
Lindsay I hope you slept better last night. I know it might make things difficult but try taking a hot shower before you go to bed or at least be in the bathroom with the hot water running. It will keep your airways clearer.:hug:
Man, so much to say and my brain went back to sleep. I forgot all what I wanted to say.pirate: Needless to say I will be back.
Hi, all!
I'm slowly feeling better! I coughed a wee bit last night, but not bad. I took my cough medicine a good hour before laying down, so I think that helped. To whoever asked if I had a recliner to sleep in, no, I don't. I wish I did, though! It's on my list of things to someday add to my living room. Thanks for the tip :)
Today it's leftover farfalle in meat sauce. It was so good! Just the comfort food I needed!
I am working on my packing list again. This morning I've been working on getting my Kindle all loaded for the trip. I like to have plenty of reading options for vacation and for the drive down. Here's what I've got:
-The Hunger Games Trilogy (Glynis, I think it was you who recommended this one. Am I wrong?)
-The Lying Game by Sara Shepard
-Twisted by Sara Shepard (it's the 9th book in the Pretty Little Liars series, one of my guilty pleasures*)
-Confessions of a Shopoholic by Sophie Kinsella
-Time Bomb by Jonathan Kellerman. This is the book I am currently reading. It is a part of the Alex Delaware series. I also have Private Eyes on my Kindle ready to go. I have already read this entire series and loved them, but I decided a few months ago to start them over. It's funny, it's been so long since I started this series (almost 10 years ago) that it's like reading them for the first time again. If you want a good who-done-it series, Alex Delaware is a good one. If you like James Patterson stuff, you will like Kellerman.
I am going to get my roots done and my caterpillars taken care of this morning, so I'm glad I don't have to cook. I'm off to go work on the jewelry I'm going to pack. I got a cool "bag" for vacation to keep my stuff in.
I hope everyone has a great day!
*Ok, my Pretty Little Liars story. Before my last trip to WDW, I was told that the PLL series is a good, fun read. I was in the middle of reading The Bone Collector when I left, but downloaded the first PLL book to read when I finished. A day or so before our trip ended, I started the book and absolutely couldn't put it down. Scott was getting mad at me not talking to him while he drove and reading instead. LOL, I couldn't help it!
We always split our drive to WDW by staying overnight in Valdosta, GA. Our hotel we stay in there has a business center that has computers, faxes, copy machines, etc. The second we checked in, I was sifting through bag trying to dig out the USB cable for my Kindle so I could download the next few PLL books, lol. (Note: I don't have the 3G Kindle, just the base model) I guess you had to be there, but it was a hoot.
Janice – So glad you’re back! :yay::woohoo::banana:
Lauren – I’m not surprised everyone raved about your food, you’re a great cook!:goodvibes When will Tom be back home?
Nan & Marisa – Thinking about y’all. Hoping you’re staying warm and praying the power is restored soon.:hug:
WFD - Pan seared filets, baked potatoes and sauteed spinach.
Ladies, any of you been to Artist Point? I made an ADR there for our Feb trip and am second guessing it.:confused:
Good Morning!
Thanks Kat! Tom will be home on Friday. I think BeadPirate Lori has been to Artist Point. I have never been but have heard good things.
Dinner tonight will be a quick chicken pot pie with stove top on top. Yum!
I never made it to the gym yesterday. We had an invisible fence installed for the doggies so I had to be here all day. Sooo...today I am off to the gym.
Janice, so glad you have your computer back!
Have a great day all!
I made an ADR there for our Feb trip and am second guessing it.:confused:
This used to be one of my favorites. I loved the smoky mushroom soup, the cedar-planked salmon, the cheese plate, the mixed greens salad, the berry cobbler. They used to offer different meats, and John really enjoyed that--boar, rabbit, venision etc. That stuff hasn't been on the menu for some years. The wine list is very nice. They do a nice job with children's meals, offering lots of choices of whole vegetables and nice meats like petit grilled steak and grilled chicken etc.
The last time we ate there it was a disaster meal. I ordered mussels as an appetizer. Over half of them were not open at all, and the other half were undercooked--mushy, translucent. The accompanying toasts were burnt. Nobody came back to check on us, there wasn't even anyone to flag down. Entrees came while the apps plates were still on the table. John's salmon was completely raw--maybe they waved it over a flame for a second. He loves rare salmon but this was inedible. Meanwhile, the salmon Laura and I ordered to share was completely overcooked!
Then, to top it all off (and this is NOT the restaurant's fault!!) right after the entrees were delivered, Liam got sick! At least he made it to the bathroom :eek: but needless to say the meal was OVER! We had to leave very quickly, so had no chance to discuss the food/service issues--we just had to pay and get Liam home. At least the server corked up our bottle of wine for us and we were able to take that home.
I would eat there again sometime, but I was so amazed/disappointed by the quality of the food on our last visit. And the bill was over $400 so...
Morning, all! I am coming to you, live, from a very warm house!!! The furnace was installed and works beautifully! It's amazing!!
Lindsay - Yes, I recommended The Hunger Games trilogy! I hope you like them. I need to re-read them before the movie comes out in March!
Janice - Hooray for a computer!! You've been missed!!
Kathy - I have never been to AP, but reviews lately have been pretty good on the Restaurant board.
No idea about dinner tonight. It's Alan's late night, so it's just me and the kids, and who knows what they will want. Jacob has Scouts and Katie has youth group, so it will have to be something fast and easy.
My new stove is being installed today! I am very happy. I see some bread baking in my future. It's nothing high end but at least it will work!
Janice, I am glad that your computer is finally fixed!
WFD: not sure. I was planning on making this Thai menu that is in the current issue of Cooking Light magazine, but then this morning John got a message from a coworker in town from London who wanted to move a scheduled business dinner from tomorrow to this evening so they can fly home a day early. So if that ends up happening I might not make the Thai menu. The only thing is that I set the sticky rice to soaking before leaving for work. I don't know if sticky rice would reheat well if I cook it tonight and serve it tomorrow? I don't want to leave it soaking from this morning through tomorrow evening because I think it might ferment.
Princess in Oz, you cook a lot of Asian food. In your opinion, does sweet (glutinous) rice reheat well? Can I steam it today and serve it tomorrow?
Hi Everyone!!
I am not back up and running, but I am in work for a few hours today.
We have no power, no heat, nothing. I am at my witts end and we see no relief in sight. :sad2: I woke up and it ws 40 degrees in my house today.
The storm hit our area hard. Saturday at 4 we lost power. I took a nap and at 6 we decided to follow my brother to Nan's because she has a generator and fireplace. It took me over an hour and the ride is only 12 minutes... There were power lines everywhere, trees falling around us. At one point, a tree branch fell after dan went by but before i did. I had to drive over it. It wasnt a small one either. My truck is all scratched up and thats the least of my worries right now
I am trying to find a generator but they are no where to be found. If anyone has an extra one, I wouldnt mind borrowing it...:rolleyes:
OK enough about me, I am following everyone, but its hard to post from the IPAD since our only internet is Jeff's cell phone. He hacked it and turned it into a mobile hotspot. Gotta love being married to a techie...
I will try to check in again later. Please pray that we get power soon. They are not telling us much except that they are trying to get it by Sunday night by midnight.:sad1:
If I had a generator it would be yours. Not sure how you would get to it though :laughing:. I am praying for relief for you guys. :hug:
This is going to be a wild winter I am thinking :scared1: It was a strange spring.:upsidedow
